Today I wanted to share some thoughts on a fairly new cigar from the good people at - first off they known for their accessories - which look to be great from the photos and videos I have seen over the past few years online.
Recently they decided to craft a cigar with the legendary EP Carrillo of **rs fame at his family’s factory in the Dominican Republic aka
The particular cigar I smoked was the “Confidence” Monday 5x50 blend that came in a box of 7 Ci**rs named the “Monday-Sunday” which contains a different size for each day and looks to be split between a lighter and darker cigar. I decided to smoke the Monday and it looks to be a Habano - but as I stated in the video - I did not want to know the blend (my inner cigar nerd wanted to, but I decided on occasion I am taking the approach of enjoyment instead of over analysis).
The cigar and cigar band and the box are very well made and I like the elegant boldness of the brand. Plus I like the color scheme - it makes for better photos. The cigar itself was quite firm and well packed with to***co. Upon the light up I was greeted with some very nice baking spices - cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg and hints of roasted coffee. The smoke out put was thick and the aroma of the cigar was pleasant to my nose.
As I continued smoking the cigar - I noticed the draw was quite flawless and the combustion of the to***co was just right. I am not sure how old the to***co was, but it didn’t have any harshness- just smooth balanced full flavors of baking spices. I didn’t get any pepper on my palate but I did get cedar wood as I smoked into the second and third of the cigar. Another note that was memorable were waves of chocolate - which is always pleasant when smoking a cigar.
As I got into the final third - the nutmeg and cedar were the primary notes and a bit of salinity on my tongue. The cigar also kept its firmness considering how far to the nub I actually smoked it. All in all - I really enjoyed this offering from El Pama.
