Hobonichi season is almost here! 🥹📖

2026 was our first year as an authorized Hobonichi retailer, and getting approved was a BIG deal for us. Hobonichi is incredibly thoughtful about where their planners are sold, and the application was more involved than almost any brand we’ve applied to carry. We shared details about our store and the paper and stationery we carry, sent photos of our space, and explained why we wanted to represent a brand we’ve loved for years.

It took some work, but it was absolutely worth it. Being chosen to carry one of our favorite planners is something we’re incredibly proud of.

And now it’s almost time for Hobonichi 2027! 👀

We recently asked if you’d come shop the release with us at midnight. 55% said YES, and another 20% said they wanted to, but midnight might be pushing it.

GOOD NEWS 👉 Hobonichi 2027 officially goes on sale in Japan at 11 AM on September 1 (JST). That exact same moment is 9 PM on August 31 here in Kansas City.

So we get to launch right alongside Japan AND nobody has to stay up until midnight!

At 9 PM ON THE DOT, Hobonichi 2027 will be available to shop. We’ll be open for two hours so you can browse the new collection, choose your planner and accessories, and stock up for 2027.

And in just a few short days, we’ll finally be allowed to show you what we ordered. 👀

Hi! There are a LOT more of you here than the last time we properly introduced ourselves… and, somehow, a lot more of us too. ❤️

What started as one little gift + paper shop on Johnson Drive has grown into two businesses: Truly Madly Depot, our gift + paper shop, and The Book Club, our independent bookstore, café + bakery. Along the way, we’ve also grown a very full calendar of events, an incredible team, and approximately 900 ideas we still haven’t gotten to yet.

So we figured it was probably time for a proper reintroduction.

This is a little bit about who we are, how these two places came to be, how they fit together, and the really wonderful people who help make them what they are.

If you’ve been here since the early Truly Madly Depot days, thank you for growing with us. And if you just found us, hi! We’re really glad you’re here. ❤️

Truly Madly Depot x The KC Journal Club are popping up for Café Cà Phê four year anniversary! We are so thankful for our friendship with Jackie and we’re excited to celebrate their big milestone together! We’re bringing all your favorite trinkets, stationery, and quirky gifts straight to you on Saturday, August 15th from 11 am - 4 pm!

TheKCjournalclub is also providing a FREE junk journal table to you & all you have to bring is your journal … or you can buy new one from us 🤭😉🫰

We’ll have a fun sticker swap station so we can trade stickers with each other! It’ll be a fun celebration with the community, lots of fun local vendors, food , and drinks so come hang out with us! It’ll be a good time. See you guys there!

One of our favorite artists we carry at Truly Madly Depot has always been Gentle Thrills, so of course we have to share it with you! We restocked some of your favorite items such as the barracuda beaded purse, rat purse, the c**kroach hair clips, the hair combs, c**kroach clip & keychains, and the w**d dog sticker!

This time we’re carrying the new rat bag charm, rubber, stamps, fancy doggy p**p bags, legally binding surprise pins, and now the c**k roach hair clip that comes with a bow! You’ll have to come and check out yourself to see all the cuteness for yourself and see why we love them so much.

Hi friends! After the incredible turnout and community love we felt at our last Pride in the Park Event, we knew we had to bring another marker back to Johnson Drive!

This time, we’re teaming up with our friends at Runny Top Retro Shop to bring you a curated vintage market. Saturday, August 29th will be a day dedicated in vintage finds, local creatives, small businesses, and bringing community together again in Mission, Kansas.
