Our monthly Sew & Tell is tomorrow!

I am so sorry I keep forgetting to announce it in our weekly emails, but the Sew & Tell is still going on! This is a fun community get together where we just hang out, show off our most recent sewing projects, and talk about our other ones!

It's so nice talking to other sewists who care about sewing just as much as we do, and it's always amazing to see the creativity that everyone produces. It's totally free to come and we will be hanging out from 10am-12pm. We hope to see you there!

A new class on corsetry!

We can't tell you how many times we've been asked about doing a class on corsetry, so we are so excited to tell you all that we finally have some!

This class, and a few others, will be taught by Sarah Martin who is a local historical costumer and designer! She has years of experience designing, sewing, and teaching and we can't wait to see the corsets she helps everyone to create!

This will be a class on how to create a fully b***d underbust corset. You will be working with spiral steel boning and will learn how to create channeling, body structure, edge finishing, and how to correctly grommet and lace your corset too!

The class will be in four sessions this November and we can only take six students! This is a great entry level class to take on corsetry because of this pattern's lack of cups.

These are some fabulous new fabrics!

We always love when we meet a new fabric we've never seen before and these brocade organzas are no different! We love how they move and catch the light and the unique twist they make on two of our favorite fabrics! The Rose Gold Sequined Mesh is also beautiful in the way it's pattern dissipates. It's set up perfectly for a long formal dress and we can't wait to see what people make with it!

This week's Fabric of the Week: our Mova Rice Meshes!

These mesh fabrics have a really close and small hole pattern which makes them very breathable and also not too see through! They make great tennis skirt overlayers, sporty tank tops, and linings to hiking pants and jackets!

They are super soft and also very stretchy. These fabrics will be 15% off for the whole rest of the week!

We've got some new dates for our Palmer/Pletsch Fit Classes!

These are some of our most popular sewing classes because one of the most difficult parts about sewing is making sure your garments actually fit. It stinks spending a lot of time sewing an outfit just to try it on at the end and it fits horribly. This class takes that guesswork out of the equation!

Jan, our instructor, does an excellent job making this process easy and simple to replicate. After the class is over you'll not only have a perfectly fitted blouse or trousers pattern, but also the know how to apply the technique to other patterns too!

We've got some new colors of ribbons and new stretch lace elastics!

Our velvet ribbons are some of our most popular trims and we decided to add a couple of new colors! We've been seeing this dark plum become really popular and there is something super sweet and delicate about the new soft pink.

As far as the new stretch lace elastics go, these are super cute on handmade panties, bras, tank tops, and so much more! They are super stretchy, soft against the skin, and create a "seamless" edge finishing to your knits. We've got seven colors currently and some of them match our stretch laces pretty well too!

These are all able to be shopped both in our store and online!

We've got new wools and tweeds!

We know everybody loves wool fabric - it's easy to sew with, breathable, and doesn't hold smell like other fibers can! We know this red 100% wool will be especially well liked because the prevalence of red wool in historical garments.

We also know everyone loves a Chanel style tweed. They make classic outfits that never go out of style and her theory of fitted but not tight garments also make her jackets and dresses super comfortable to wear too.

It's a very floral Fabric of the Week!

These rayon/tencel blend voiles have some really unique large print floral designs on them. The Monet Watercolors (the blue/purple/green one) has an abstract sort of style that will be super helpful with placement and cutting because you can't quite tell where one flower starts and the next one ends! The Big Blooms (the ivory/pink/blue one) has an almost ikat style color spread around the print, and it looks just as pretty cut up into smaller pieces as it does letting the print shine through!

Both these fabrics are 15% off all week long and can be shopped both instore and online!

Fall/Winter 2026 Color Forecast!

This is a color scheme that both Elizabeth and Jamie love! We are super excited about the bright greens and pinks (especially pairing them together) and the pops of blue make a really electrifying color story.

We've personally been seeing the burnt olive, muted clay, green envy, festival fuchsia, Neptune green, and Poseidon be really popular already so it seems that everyone is already in the loop of the new coolest colors!

There's a wide range of fabrics shown, so whether you're planning a new winter coat, barrel leg pants, silky blouse, or wedding guest dress we've got something on trend!

Most of these fabrics can be shopped both instore or online, but there's a couple of them that are currently instore only!

It's time to sharpen your scissors!

Well it's at least time to sharpen ours... If your scissors have seen many seasons, been nicked, dropped, or seen a few sheets of paper (God rest the soul of whomever did that) then we can help get your scissors back in cutting shape!

If you drop your scissors of by THIS SATURDAY at 2pm then for $10 we can get them sharpened up! We can do shears, pinkers, embroidery scissors, and snips! They will be ready to be picked up this next Tuesday so you'll only be without them for a couple days!

If you have any questions about if your scissors can be sharpened or any other ones, feel free to give us a call or pop in the shop!
