Its about that time again, another first friday is coming up quick 💫 Join us as we put the spotlight on multidisciplinary artist Zola Kell who is currently focused on textiles and installations. Born and raised in Victoria, BC, Zola moved to Missoula in 2023 and is just about to start an MFA at the U of M. Her business is Zola Textiles, which is focused on making whimsical rugs and fun, functional objects for the home. She also teaches rug-tufting workshops to share the joy of tufting! Zola finds it hard to stay true to a single medium, so she frequently dabbles in painting, sculpture, printmaking and more - whatever it takes to get her idea to come to life. If she's not crafting life-size textile cockroaches to wear as brooches to the cockroach derby, you might find her sewing a 7-foot long worm or practicing her yodel!
For this opportunity to exhibit at Betty Venom Vintage, Zola wanted to create a series of objects from upcycled fabrics in homage to the phenomenon of "pin-stuck cushions;" a decorative art form that originated during World War I.
In addition to our indoor artist, we will also have some wonderful whimsical outdoor vendors bumpy&jumpy & Breze Schmitz
Come join us as we celebrate and support some of the artistic hands that shape our town!
