Leaf and Quiet is so excited to be partnering up with the speciality coffee of .coffee !!!!

Floreo Coffee (https://www.instagram.com/floreo.coffee/) is a local roaster who epitomizes the notion “farm to table” but with coffee! They take out the middleman and communicate DIRECTLY with the coffee growers in Costa Rica, Colombia and parts of Africa. They truly know their coffee growers and have personal relationships with all of them making this specialty coffee truly “local”; supporting our beloved coffee growers from around the world and the fine roaster in Florence, MT.

So come, cop a squat and sip some delicious coffee in the quietness of the L + Q jungles. No espresso maker, no milk steamer (but cream of choice is available to add to your own cuppa), just quiet sipping of some very special coffee. And no to-go cups, cutting down on waste while encouraging you to sit and enjoy a quiet cup, ignoring the hustle and the bustle of life, if only for a moment.

Self-serve and on the house, though donations are happily accepted.

Are you having a blue holiday season? Over at Leaf + Quiet we understand that not everyone is merry and bright this time of year. The holiday season can be very difficult for people who feel alone, have lost loved ones or who simply feel a sense of sadness this time of year.

If all the bright lights and holiday cheer are making you feel down, we encourage you to stop by for a friendly, upbeat visit and purchase some wellness gifts for yourself to ease the loneliness or sadness.

For a holiday care package for yourself, or someone you know who is having a difficult time, we suggest:

Do you like to shop locally? At Leaf + Quiet you can also buy local! While “shopping local” and “buying local” are often used interchangeably, buying local focuses more specifically on purchasing goods or services that are produced within our local area, emphasizing the origin of the product rather than the location of the store itself.

For many, Missoula is not an affordable town to live in, so over at Leaf + Quiet we strive to carry as many locally made options as possible in order to help our vital local craftsmen, artisans and other local small businesses.

Choosing to shop at the eclectic little plant shop on the funky side of town allows you to both shop and buy locally this holiday season!

🌿Today, we are featuring some of our favorite local ceramicists we represent in our eclectic little shop; Chris Alveshere , Rachel Spaid -ceramics, Alexandria Crow , and Courtney Murphy .

And please take a look at our giving tree where we not only have locally made ornaments as well as Fair-Trade ornaments made from recycled steel and iron, but we also have Watson Children’s Shelter’s wish list items on our tree. Are you all enjoying the bright, colorful lights that are popping up all over town?

So are we, which is why over here at Leaf + Quiet we made sure to stock up on plenty of colorful plant friends who help us stay merry and bright through these darker days (speaking of darker days, keep an eye out for our post on seasonal affective disorder and the Blue Christmas concept - no, not the Elvis Presley song, but close!😊).

Back to merry and bright; we have a delightful mix of Cyclamens and Poinsettias (no pet owners, please, unless you have a spot to keep these pretties away from your furry babies), and a beautiful mix of orchids and African violets (the ASPCA rates orchids and African violets as safe for pets).

So pop on over to the funky side of town and visit the little eclectic plant shop to offer a merry feast of color for your eyes!

Hi–I’m Jennie!

Have you ever made a decision that you knew was so dramatically different from the way you have been living your life? Filling you with so many emotions all at once? So many different emotions to the point that they are more like one emotion all composting together, making a deep, rich emotion of its own?

I have made that kind of decision. Today, I purchased Leaf + Quiet; the eclectic little plant shop on the Northside in Missoula.

For the last 20 years I have been a tax accountant. Recently, I have started stepping away from the only profession I have known and decided to buy a boutique plant shop. After over 20 years of accounting? That is the scary part. The exciting part is the plants I will learn about and the people I will get to know; bringing them both together to bring joy into each other’s lives.

Plants have been a constant companion throughout my life––the ups and downs, the frustrations and fulfilments. Decades of outdoor gardening and landscaping as well as quietly observing our western Montana native flora; watching the growth and blooms and the dormancy or apparent death only to be reborn the next year, connecting me to the cycle of life in a very intimate way.

Exploring the mystery of indoor plants whose natural habitat is in faraway lands has always been a tantalizing idea so during the winters when I craved the green, I started studying them through research, botanical illustration, and very close observation; getting to know their personalities which are so very different from my outdoor friends; a foreign delicateness yet resilient, temperamental but always enjoyable.

This is my first post to chronicle the sprouting of a new path. I am curious to see where I will be a year from now, three years from now, even ten years from now and I am excited that you will be on this journey with me.

With followers and friends, I know the path won’t be lonely, so thank you for the valuable role you will play. As I don’t have much experience with social media, it means a lot to me that you all are with me on my very first post.

Looking forward to seeing where we all go from here – the future is unwritten!
