Hey it's not all about size....

With the cooler weather the Kingfisher fellas have found some fantastic Western Montana Brown Trout! And I found a beautiful one!
With the season beginning to shift, fish are starting to look for bigger meals. Our Blackfoot Rod makes the deliver of those meals possible without breaking the bank!

With the cooler water temps around town, the Kingfisher boys found some wild Montana brown trout! In the River! Eating flies and bugs!

At Kingfisher Fly Shop, we believe the future of fly fishing starts with getting the next generation involved in the sport and connected to the outdoors.

We’re honored to support Appalachian Outdoor Heroes in Caldwell, West Virginia, through the donation of fly-tying vises for their youth fly tying classes. Their organization uses time outside, mentorship, and hands-on learning to help young people gain confidence, learn practical skills, and build meaningful connections with nature.

Seeing these vises put to use by young fly tyers and seeing the excitement that comes with learning a new craft is exactly why giving back matters to us. We’re grateful for the important work Appalachian Outdoor Heroes is doing and proud to have a small role in helping inspire the next generation of anglers, outdoor enthusiasts, and conservation-minded leaders.

Pam and Leo Potter went out this weekend after some waters in Montana had a chance to cool down and found some beautiful fish! Well done Pam and Leo! Make sure to wish luck to Leo as he goes back to school this fall! We’ll miss him around the shop!

Important to note; the shop has dropped back down to 8 hours days (9AM-5PM 7 days a week.)

The rain has brought in some cooler water and temperatures in most of the local waters have dropped quite significantly! Most Hoot Owl restrictions have been lifted except for the Clark from Milltown to the confluence of Warm Springs and Silver Bow, and on the Bitterroot from Veterans Bridge to the confluence of the Clark Fork.

Although water temps have dropped, it’s still a good idea to limit fight times, keep fish wet, and watch out for warm water in the afternoons.
