What a BEAUTIFUL day to come play and shop in downtown Mobile!

Who remembers??

I remember having those story records when I was a kid. You'd put the record on, settle down with the book, and listen while the story was read to you. When it was time to turn the page, you'd hear that little chime or sound telling you to move on. I thought that was pretty neat.

Sleeping Beauty was one of my favorites. I could listen to that story over and over, and of course there was the prince. Sigh. Even as a little girl, I knew a handsome prince coming along to save the day wasn't such a bad ending.

There was something special about hearing a story coming from that record player while following along with the pictures. I knew how the story ended, but that never stopped me from playing it again.

I guess those records were our version of an audiobook, only better. You had the record, the book, the pictures, and that little sound telling you when to turn the page. And in my case, I had Sleeping Beauty and her prince. Did I mention the prince? Sigh.
