now if you find it at a consignment price, the math gets even better. You get the good stuff, you save money, and you get to brag about what you paid. My accountant has not signed off on any of this. My closet has.

Your closet should be full of things that make you feel sooo good when you put them on. Life’s too short for clothes that make you sigh.

At this age, I know exactly what I like. Unfortunately for my bank account, I like a lot. 😂

I like the good bag. The big earrings. The shoes that make absolutely no sense for where I’m going. Ch*****ne when there’s nothing in particular to celebrate. Dinner somewhere cute. A hotel that makes me want to stay forever. Another black jacket even though I can already hear David asking how it’s different from the other six.

I like being overdressed.

I like making plans and then buying an outfit for the plans like I don’t already own 400 things I could wear.

I like ordering the appetizer for the table. I like the expensive candle. I like the extra night away. I like things that are a little loud, a little extra, and probably unnecessary.

And I’m done trying to talk myself out of liking what I like.

I spent plenty of years wondering if I should tone it down, be more practical, save something for a special occasion, or worry about what someone else might think.

Turns out I’m not getting more reasonable with age.

I’m just getting much more specific. 😂

Things I used to wait for permission to wear: the red lipstick, the bold print, the jacket that gets noticed. Turns out the only permission I needed was mine.

How many times have you picked something up, loved it, and put it right back because you weren’t sure you could pull it off? Or bought it and let it hang in your closet waiting for the right day, the right event, the right number on the scale?

I’ve done it too. I’d hold onto the fun pieces and keep reaching for the safe ones, like I needed someone to tell me it was okay to be seen.

Nobody was ever coming to give me that permission. I had to give it to myself. And once I did, getting dressed started feeling fun again.

So wear the lipstick. Wear the print. Wear the jacket that makes people look twice. You’re allowed to love what you see in the mirror.

I’m not saying skip work and try on fall boots, but I’m not NOT saying that.

Modesto hasn’t gotten the memo that it’s fall yet, and I don’t care. I’m ready for boots, jeans, and a cozy sweater, even if I’m sweating in the parking lot.

Picture this. It’s the first Thursday of the month, your coffee is already waiting for you, and the only thing on your to-do list for the next hour is breathing.

That’s The Yoga Social.

Most of us treat slowing down like something we have to earn. We’ll stretch when the inbox is empty. We’ll rest when the week calms down. We’ll see our friends when things settle. And, babe, things never settle on their own. You have to put it on the calendar.

So we did it for you. Once a month, we roll out the mats at Threads for a morning of movement, community, and really good coffee, led by the lovely Stephannie Schmit Stephannie Schmit . Come as you are. Bring a friend, or come solo and leave with a few new ones. This room has a way of doing that.
