Here in our hot, dry summers especially, we see quite a few acoustic guitars with the bridge lifting. The repair requires considerable prep work before actually getting to the re-glueing and clamping shown here with a client’s guitar.

Once the repair reaches this point, we wait a minimum of 48 hours before removing the clamps, sometimes even longer depending on various factors. Then comes the finishing work and eventually restring!

Keeping your guitars as climate-controlled as possible helps prevent bridge lift and other problems, especially with acoustic guitars. If you’re in an arid environment, putting a small humidifier in your case with your guitar is helpful. If you’re in a humid climate, keeping a couple moisture-absorbing packets in your case is the way to go. There are several of both of these products on the market well worth the small investment.
