Progress update 3:
The trickiest part is making the relief cuts in the final fabric. Got close to overcutting on one of them, but it all worked out and no tools had to be thrown across the shop. The outer back fabric is only supported by fabric since it doesn't get much use. Typically you would use burlap again, but instead I chose to use some of the original red fabric to preserve some of the history. Only thing left is adding some wooden plugs to hide the arm hardware and then it will be time for my typical before/after pics.

I like to call this one....Bad Dog! 🤣 Customers' dog chewed the foam and zipper pull was lost in the laundry.

A little foam --> a little Dacron --> a little spray adhesive --> a little sewing --> good as new. Fortunately I had the same size zipper pulls on hand, so this was a pretty easy repair and quick turn-around for the customer.

Progress update 2:
Frame sanded, stained and two finish coats of lacquer. Jute webbing and burlap for seat and back cushion support. High density foam padding and polyester fiber batting. Final step today is a layer of light weight cotton muslin fabric to pre-form the cushion and also provide an opportunity to test all of the relief cuts around the arms and frame. The muslin isn't truly necessary, but it's better to make any mistakes here than on the finish fabric.

Sometimes you just have to start over. Luckily there was not much glue used in the original assembly, so things came apart fairly easy after all the nails were removed. This one gets a full overhaul with frame rebuild, strip, stain, finish and reupholster. Oh yeah, there may be some new foam in there too. 🤣
