Seen and Noted: this morning in Taylor, Elkridge-Harford huntsman Geoffrey Hyde walks the bitch pack past the clubhouse annex built by Mrs. William Goadby Loew during her tenure as MFH of the Harford Hunt. The daughter of eminent banker George Baker (aka as “Queenie” to her friends in New York and Newport) built the addition not only to escape the male crowds and noise next door, but to have her own assured source of precious hot water. It was the only part of the building to escape the flames of the 1938 conflagration which destroyed the old Street farmhouse that served as the original clubhouse. Their residence in New York was reputed to be the most expensive mansion built in the city during the years of the great depression. https://timesmachine.nytimes.com/timesmachine/1936/05/25/issue.html
