GENERAL FUNCTION:
This professional provides direct oversight of supported living and personal care service delivery to assure that participant needs are met and agency and regulatory requirements are met. Develops and manages opportunities for personal growth that satisfy the needs and interests of the individuals served. Schedules direct support staff in the delivery of services. Manages and trains staff according to agency and governmental policies. Works with other management and administrative team members in the accomplishment of the goals of the program. Works with external agents such as service coordinators or regional state staff as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• College degree in recreation, special education, social work or related area.
• Valid Louisiana Driver’s license

Demonstrated ability to:
• Articulate and follow ARCO's philosophy.
• Use written and oral communication skills on the post-secondary level to interpret guidelines and complete reports.
• Read and follow requirements pertaining to regulatory and funding sources.
• Plan, prepare for, and conduct activities of interests to adults with IDD.
• Assure that staff are providing the services according to the overall plan of care as well as addressing the obvious day to day needs.
• Evaluate the interest, skill level, and learning needs of persons with IDD and engage them in participatory activities accordingly.
• Manage and teach staff.
• Identify issues of concern regarding individuals served, work issues, etc. and communicate these to those that need to know.
• Coordinate with all components of the agency and community resources.
• Drive a large van.

ENERAL FUNCTION:



Transportation



To manage the transportation system of ARCO relative to vehicles owned by the agency according to the needs of the agency and the requirements of the Department of Transportation and Development as related to vehicles provided by that funder. To assure adherence to requirements of funders, to work with the Vocational/Day Services Director to develop and maintain processes that will result in compliance, particularly with the requirements of the DOTD (vehicle maintenance, reporting to DOTD, Title IV Compliance, etc.). To manage the staff that drives the agency vehicles, including assisting the Day Services Department Director to the extent requested in the hiring, training, evaluating, and discipline of staff. To manage staff schedules. To determine routes that respond to specific needs of the participants relying on ARCO’s transportation system and to ARCO’s need for efficiency in the usage of its vehicles as it responds to a large number of demand-needs of participants. To assure that the physical vehicles are maintained in good working order. To utilize the vehicle tracking system in the collection of data and the management of the transportation system. To coordinate with any department within the agency and eligible external transportation providers to meet eligible transportation needs. To assure that passengers are safe, that safety and adaptive equipment are used as designed, and that participants requiring specialized procedures, including methods of dealing with unsafe behaviors, are transported by staff that is properly trained.



Maintenance

To see to the varied needs of the facilities (buildings) and vehicles of the agency in terms of the wholeness and adequacy of its structure and usefulness. To evaluate the needs of the agency’s buildings, grounds, and vehicles and set forth systems to monitor and assure that these are in good repair or working order. To address needs directly or to outsource the needs of ARCO’s workplace, vehicles, and equipment timely and judiciously (effective and affordable). To set forth a system of reporting of issues by the workforce and to inform management, especially the Executive Director, of needs that will require more than ordinary resources of time, coordination, or money.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Post-secondary reading, writing and verbal skills.

· Valid Louisiana driver’s license.

· Ability to develop and maintain transportation schedules based on the multiple and competing needs of the population served.

· Computer skills required for word processing, data entry, and extraction, report building, etc. The ability to operate specialized programs designed for transportation management.

· Staff supervision experience.

· Working knowledge of vehicles: the requirements for safe driving, adequately maintaining, and supervising needed repairs.

· Ability to perform maintenance work related to building structures, monitoring and routine maintenance of electrical and HVC systems, managing portable generators, performing simple carpentry, performing routine assessments/oversite, and addressing routine needs.

· Ability to recognize the details of developing and maintaining transportation systems and building and grounds establishment and upkeep.

· Dependable transportation available on the job.

· One year of work experience in this or a related field preferred

Demonstrated ability to:

· Positively and clearly communicate and coordinate with all departments and functions of the agency

· Efficiently manage complex variables to achieve a single outcome

· Present oneself in a professional manner

· Effectively work with families and persons with developmental disabilities

· Work within a team

· Move fluently from one plan to another

· Communicate in a way that promotes positive and personal growth of the individual

· Model behavior and interactions appropriate to community standards

· Work any hours
