Happy Friday everyone! We are two days away from relaunch! We will be adding inventory to the website at 10am CST on Sunday! We are excited to start taking orders again. Please be patient with us as we get back into the swing of things. During the first few weeks, everything will be made-to-order, and you should plan for a processing time of 7-10 business days.

Let’s talk scent changes! We will be changing almost all of our previous seasonal scents to permanent scents! Yes, this means some of your favorites will be available all year. The only exception are the Summer Scents (Reading in the Beach, Reading in the Garden, and Reading in the Park). Be on the lookout for those three to show up as sample freebies in your orders.

Rather than seasonal scents, we will be doing a Scent of the Month starting January 2024. Each month, we’ll create a book inspired scent and it will only be available for one month.

Welcome to Born Nerdy Co., your go-to place for Natural Soy Candles for Nerds! We're busily preparing for our official return to the realm of bookish scents on October 15th. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​For those of you who are new here, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Sam. Around 6 years ago, I started making soy candles and founded a company called Highland Bluff Studio. Over the years, we've developed and released over 50 scents, all inspired by books and the joy of reading. We've been creating handmade soy candles, wax melts, room sprays, and oils. More importantly, we've had a ton of fun!

Fast forward to last April when I decided to take a seasonal break for the Spring/Summer (rest assured, nothing serious occurred). When planning our relaunch, I kept circling back to an idea I’d had in mid-2019 about rebranding the company as Born Nerdy. Ever since I began making candles for book nerds, I've been completely drawn to how this particular community embraces their nerdiness. From owning a room full of books to dedicating a special shelf for a bookish candle collection, book nerds find both obvious and subtly clever ways to express their passion. I believe it's ingrained in our DNA - it's just how we're made. Most of us can easily look back to early childhood and recall fond memories of loving stories, books, reading. We were, quite frankly, born nerdy.

If you've read this far, thank you! I hope you're either returning to join our book nerd group, or you've just found us and plan to stick around. Over the next week or so, we'll be taking a trip down memory lane, looking back over the years of Highland Bluff Studio by sharing some of our favorite photos from our previous account.

Hi all,

There is a big change coming for Highland Bluff! I recently decided to pursue a career as a Realtor and short-term rental manager. With that, I find myself not able to give candle making the time that it deserves. Starting this Sunday, Highland Bluff will be going on a Spring / Summer break with plans to be back sometime in the Fall. During this break, I will not take orders through Etsy or the website. For wholesale customers and long-time repeat customers, you can email me at [email protected] to see if I am able to take your order. I have extended the 50% off sale (SPRING50) that automatically applies during checkout through Saturday, May 22 at 11:59pm CST. Early Sunday morning, I will stop taking new orders until Fall.
