Tis the Season to experience Tuesday, September 15, 2026, where today is NATIONAL DOUBLE CHEESEBURGER DAY, NATIONAL LINGUINE DAY, AND NATIONAL ON-LINE LEARNING DAY.
Let’s start with food, ok? In fact, what can beat a Cheeseburger? Of course, a Double Cheeseburger!! Now, if a Double Cheeseburger is just too much for some of you; no problem, September 18 is Cheeseburger Day. So, celebrate today or Friday…. or all the days in between.
Perhaps you are envisioning a Double Cheeseburger for lunch and a Linguini Dish for supper. How do you prepare your linguini? Do you prefer a simple dish of linguini with butter and an herb or two such as sage and parsley? Or do you prefer a meat or fish linguini served either with a tomato or white w**e- based sauce? Hard decision?
You can always go on-line just to see how to prepare various linguini dishes…. especially since today is National On-Line Learning Day. I am fascinated with On-Line Learning whether it is for one college class or to acquire a complete degree. I, like countless others, traveled miles to work on our Graduate Studies (master’s degree, Rank I, etc., etc.), not to mention our undergraduate degree.
Plus, how could I ever forget the hours that were spent in the Periodical Section of the library getting information for a college research paper? Amazingly now, with the search engine of your choice and from the comforts of your home, research information is at your fingertips. More amazing, though, to a large degree, a DEGREE can be obtained from the comforts of your home, too.
Yes, I truly am an On-Line Learner…not to obtain another degree, but just to seek further edification…… such as learning new ways to prepare linguini.
Bon Appetit!
Until we meet again. See you, bye.

Today is NATIONAL EAT A HOAGIE DAY, NATIONAL PARENTS TAKE OFF DAY, and NATIONAL CREAM FILLED DONUT DAY!!
So….welcome to September 14, 2026, where, if you are a Foodie, it is looking good, don’t you think? That is if you are a Foodie that loves Hoagies and/or Cream Filled Donuts.
First for the Hoagie, or maybe you call them by another one of their many names (Sub, Hero, or Grinder) ….do you have a special restaurant that serves up this delight? Me too! Are you also thinking of the establishment that will satisfy your desire for a Cream Filled Donut, too?
In fact, allowing someone to provide all your meals today would certainly be a good idea for parents. Yes, parents, it is your day TO TAKE OFF!!!! Wow, I sure hope you can make that celebration a reality.
However, if not today, please mark the calendar for next year. It might take some planning, but wouldn’t it be a blessed reprieve. Parents, please try to make it a reality today. Next year, too, but give it at least a try today.
Let the resting begin.
Until we meet again. See you, bye.

Tis the Season to celebrate September 13, 2026, where today is NATIONAL KIDS TAKE OVER THE KITCHEN DAY, INTERNATIONAL CHOCOLATE DAY, and NATIONAL PEANUT DAY. Most importantly, though, it is a Day of Worship for many.
For some of you, you will certainly be in for celebrating National Peanut Day, for you genuinely love peanuts, right? No wonder…. they are delicious and just like other nuts, they have many health benefits (good for the skin, protects heart, good for the eyes, good for the brain, good protein for vegetarians, fights inflammation, etc., etc.). Plus, they are exceptionally Good with chocolate!
Oh! Yes! Let us celebrate CHOCOLATE with the rest of the world!!
In fact, when you allow your kids to take over the kitchen today, some of you might suggest that the kids allow CHOCOLATE (and peanuts) to be a part of their menu planning.
Goodness…. where is your mind going…. Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Pie, or Chocolate Cookies. Or are you hoping they choose to have Peanut Butter Cookies for dessert?
Oh my! Since I have put the idea of Peanut Butter Cookies in your mind can you hardly wait to indulge in some cookies? Me neither, suddenly Peanut Butter Cookies are almost sounding as good as something with chocolate.
Hey, wait a minute, why do we have to choose? Why don’t we encourage the kids to go for both? Yes, give the kids free reign with both CHOCOLATE and PEANUTS. Who knows, they might produce a new family favorite.
Yes, after a wonderful time of worship together….here is to CHOCOLATE, PEANUTS, KIDS TAKING OVER THE KITCHEN, and September 13, 2026
Happy Sunday!
Until we meet again. See you, bye.

09/12/2026

Tis the Season to celebrate Saturday, September 12, 2026, which is NATIONAL DAY OF ENCOURAGEMENT and NATIONAL CHOCOLATE MILK SHAKE DAY. I love the sound of these celebrations, don’t you? They are going to be so easy to celebrate, too. For example, isn’t it going to be so easy to find a restaurant that serves Chocolate Shakes?
What is that? You have not had a Chocolate Shake in years. Well, please rectify that inadequacy today. We are talking Chocolate Shakes, people, even if your diet demands that it is a small shake. A SMALL Chocolate Shake is better than no shake at all.
What is that I am hearing……my words of encouragement concerning a Chocolate Shake are not altering your resolve to stick to your nutritional plan. Good for you!! You have found the COURAGE and STRENTH to stick to your diet plan.
Yes, I said COURAGE since that is the Root Word in encouragement. So, for just a moment…. in honor of National Day of Encouragement, let us consider the POWER of your words and actions to self and others. Your words to others (yourself, too) have the potential to build up or to tear down. That is powerful, isn’t it? So, on this day, will you just be conscious of how many words of encouragement you can offer today? It will take such little effort on your part but just might be a healing balm to the receiver. That person might just be lacking the COURAGE needed to process this day as needed. Just think, you just might be the encouragement needed that they are lacking.
Now, speaking of encouragement, may I encourage you to approach this day as positively as you can. Yes, I know that there is darkness in our world, but that just demands/calls for more LIGHT. Can you start shining your light to help, at least in your small corner of the world?
Let the brightness begin…. for the only other option is to give up! Please do not let that happen. HAVE THE COURAGE TO KEEP TRYING.
Until we meet again. See you, bye.

Today we commemorate the 25th Anniversary of 9-11-2001.
On the day that foreign hijackers used four planes to attack America. The day that many refer to as our generation’s Pearl Harbor. A foreign attack that took 3,000 lives on that day with the total still climbing to this day. Yes, twenty-five years later, first responders are still succumbing to illnesses attributed to that day. The day that remains…. the deadliest terrorist act in world history.
As an American, how do we honor the significance of this day? For many, they will choose to participate in the NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE AND REMEMBRANCE. As a tribute to all the victims of 9-11 and the first responders and volunteers who responded with SERVICE…. on this day of remembrance, Americans are asked to respond with SERVICE, too.
In fact, this Day of Service and Remembrance has become the largest day of charitable service in our country. In fact, it has been stated that 9-11-2001 “galvanized a generation of volunteers.” Yes, on 9-11-2001, many Americans, after seeing the bravery of the first responders, decided not to respond with hate but with love for their fellowman.
Thus, to truly commemorate the importance of this day, we are being asked to do something kind for SOMEONE today to honor SOMEONE lost on that day.
Acts of kindness are needed in every neighborhood. My neighborhood and yours. Let us make today count.
Until we meet again. See you, bye.

09/10/2026

Tis the Season to experience Thursday, September 10, 2026, where today is NATIONAL SWAP IDEAS DAY, WORLD SU***DE PREVENTION DAY, and NATIONAL TV DINNER DAY.
I want to begin with World Su***de Prevention Day. We realize that the person who tries to take their own life must be in total and complete desperation. How sad, how confusing, how baffling for their families left behind. Isn’t the su***de rate among veterans extremely sad, too? What can be done? I know the schools are increasingly doing more to educate on Su***de Prevention. I know the military continues to try to help with their veteran’s physical and mental health, too. As individuals, what can we do? Well, this might sound like a simpleton’s approach, but I think we need to start by simply focusing on being a kinder and gentler people. We need to listen more and talk less. Plus, we finally need to stop the embarrassment over concerns with mental health. The brain is an organ, just like the heart, lungs, etc.
Now, to a lighter topic, let’s talk about National TV Dinner Day. We celebrate the TV Dinner today because it was on September 10, 1953, that Swanson’s TV Dinner hit the grocery store. Just visit your grocery freezer section today, and you can vouch that Swanson’s launch was a success. Thanks, Swanson.
Yes, Swanson had a great idea in 1953. Do you have a great idea you would like to share today, too? I know that on Facebook, I am continuously seeing great ideas. Perhaps one of my favorite ideas is one that I discovered about 4 years ago, and I continue to use it today. It is a different take on how to fix Macaroni and Cheese from the boxed version. You know the Blue Box and other boxes with powdered cheese. Well, you simply cover the macaroni with water and add the cheese before cooking. Yes, no more draining the water. You do have to stir the pasta quite a bit. And I am still not sure of the exact amount of water I need. But if my mixture gets too dry/thick before my pasta gets done, I just go ahead and add the butter and milk. People, this stuff is good.
What great idea could you swap with someone today? Yes, let the swapping begin.
Until we meet again. See you, bye.

Today is I LOVE FOOD DAY!!
There are other daily celebrations for September 9, 2026, but I am just focusing on one…. because I LOVE FOOD!!!! I love growing it. I love preparing it. I love sharing it. I most certainly LOVE consuming it!!
Really, folks, it is FOOD! You LOVE it, too, right?
FOOD is not just sustenance; though, food is a part of our culture. It represents where and how we were raised. Food allows us to continue family traditions from generation to generation.
Speaking of my parents, reminds me of special bonds we shared around FOOD…in that my LOVE for FOOD came honestly. As we were eating lunch, my daddy would often ask, “What is for supper?” Perhaps our focus on FOOD in part was because my mother was such an excellent cook. However, I think part of my parents and grandparents’ focus on FOOD was the fact that they lived through The Depression. The Weaver’s (mama’s side) might have lost their farm during the Depression, and the Marcum’s (daddy’s side) barely scraped by, but both families would say that there was always FOOD on the table.
Yes, being able to PROVIDE sustenance for their family might have been somewhat responsible for our family being Food Focused, but our active palettes play into the scenario, too.
Yes, for my family, celebrating I LOVE FOOD DAY is almost as natural as breathing. It is part of our family bond in that my family is often brought together to grow and gather the food, prepare the food, and then to enjoy the food and fellowship together!! We also enjoy frequenting our favorite restaurants and finding new ones. Does Food hold a similar role in your family, as well? (I know many of you are in total agreement!)
To celebrate, do we cook our family’s favorite meal today? What fun!!
However you choose to celebrate FOOD today, though, remember that it is just not about FOOD. It is about daily blessings. It is about taking pride in providing for your family. It is about family and friends enjoying tasty FOOD and Fellowship!! Bon Appetit!
Until we meet again. See you, bye.

Tis the Season “To Boldly Go Where No Man Has Gone Before!!”
Yes, on September 8, 2026, it is time to celebrate STAR TREK DAY. For it was on September 8, 1966, that the science fiction television series, Star Trek, created by Gene Roddenberry, aired for the first time on NBC.
Were you one of the lucky ones that got to see some of the seventy-nine episodes that aired from 1966 to June 3, 1969? Did you become a Trekkie then, or did you catch the bug later? It would appear to be a very contagious bug, because according to the internet, there are now around seven billion Star Trek fans around the planet.
If you are among this amazing number, how will you celebrate this day? Will you dress as your favorite character? Will you see how many of the seventy-nine episodes that you can watch today? Yes, what will you do to honor the day?
Hopefully, even if you are not a Star Trek fan, though, that you will use this day to take to heart one of Chief Engineer Scotty’s sayings, “I’m givin’ her all she’s got, Captain!”
I know, I know, for you true Trekkies, you know that Scotty’s phrase has been paraphrased over the years, but it still is a good one, don’t you think? Don’t you agree that Scotty would want us to give this day “ALL WE HAVE”?!
Scotty would probably agree that it is also time for him to take his final cue.
Yes, “Beam me up, Scotty” ….so this adventurous day can begin.
Until we meet again. See you, bye.

Welcome to Labor Day, 2026. The day established to “pay tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers.” The day that was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894. A day that is observed the first Monday in September. That happens to be today, so HAPPY LABOR DAY!!
Are you well on your way to making this a memorable three-day holiday? Hopefully, you are off from work today, and you have a day packed with fun-filled activities for family and friends. You might even listen to Alabama’s song, 40 HOUR WEEK (FOR A LIVIN”), to fully get into the meaning/purpose for the day. The song where the beloved country group celebrates by naming numerous work populations (Kansas wheat field farmer, the one who fights the fires, Pittsburgh steel mill worker, the one who brings the mail, etc., etc.). Yes, join in and sing this song and participate in any activity that helps make this day special for you and your family and friends.
It ends today, though, and most will go back to work and school tomorrow. Thus, make the most of this last leg of our Labor Day Celebrations for 2026. It is labeled the unofficial end to Summer, but in my neck of the woods, people are going to enjoy our beautiful lakes and mountains until at least the frost and/or cold winds run us indoors.
But for today, at least in Kentucky, the weather is predicted to be near perfect. Perfect if you love the SUN and much cooler weather than we had last week. Even though the weather is going to be in the high eighties today, I will take it over last week. How about you? We sure need rain, though, don’t we?
So, let your Labor Day Weekend celebrations continue. Be safe though, on and off the water, for it will probably be a busy traffic day. Yes, Happy Labor Day (with truly little LABOR, if you are lucky)!
Until we meet again. See you, bye.

09/06/2026

Tis the Season to celebrate Sunday, September 6, 2026, where today is NATIONAL READ A BOOK DAY, FIGHT PROCRASTINATION DAY, and NATIONAL COFFEE ICE CREAM DAY. Most importantly, though, it is a Day of Worship for many.
Well, we could start with Procrastination, but I would rather wait. For you see, I must sadly say that I am a true PROCRASTINATOR. For example, have you ever heard the phrase, “If it weren’t for the last minute, nothing would get done” …. well, that is me. I truly need to celebrate/participate in Fight Procrastination Day, but time will tell. Maybe I will be more motivated tomorrow……. Oh! No!
However, I will probably find TIME to celebrate National Read a Book Day, for I can usually sneak in some READING time no matter what is needed to be done for said day. How about you? In fact, I am guessing that some of you have discovered you can read almost anywhere/everywhere…….at the lake, in the car (if you are not driving, right?), in the mountains, at the beach, in the bathroom, etc., etc. A book is a friend that can travel about anywhere, and you, creative ones have learned how to sneak in some special time with this friend no matter the occasion, right?
For me, the same can be said for Coffee Ice Cream. In that, no matter what the day….no matter what desserts are on the table…. if you offer me some Coffee Ice Cream…. that will be the dessert I choose. In other words, I love, love, love Coffee Ice Cream! How about you?
So…. how about we do not procrastinate today when it comes to enjoying a book today; I trust it will have a successful conclusion. And do not procrastinate about enjoying your Coffee Ice Cream, either in its solid form or as a shake. AND….and….and if you do not put it off, start tackling that JOB, ACTIVITY, and/or DUTY that you have been avoiding/shuffling for at least a good month……. maybe years. Can you? Can I? Time will tell!
Until we meet again. See you, bye.
