The weather has been quite unpredictable lately, yet it's lovely outside. Have you conditioned your leather goods? Products like oil, paste, or wax are excellent for maintaining leather quality. Personally, I utilize mink oil on most of my gear. Mink oil, rich in palmitoleic acid, is a renowned leather conditioner and preservative that softens, waterproofs, and prevents cracking. For my everyday work boots, I prefer Sno-Seal. Sno-Seal is a reputable waterproofing agent with a beeswax base, designed to shield leather boots, gear, and tent seams from water, snow, and salt. Neatsfoot oil, derived from cattle shin bones and feet, is ideal for exceptionally dry leather, effectively softening, conditioning, and preserving it. Regardless of the product chosen, it's essential to protect your investments. My boots, for instance, are over 15 years old.

Best way to keep feet warm in winter in leather boots is wool socks, only if you can keep them dry. Boots with a mid-layer like Gore-Tex, then insulation, then the outer boot work well if you're not in extreme conditions. I've seen Mickey boots with a rubber inner layer, heavy wool, then a rubber outer layer, and you can air them up. Dri air is the best insulation ever. So, if your feet get wet with Mickey boots on, your body heat and the Dri installation in the Mickey boots keep your feet warm. Now, take a look at non-insulated boots, straight-up leather boots. Wool socks are a good choice, and weatherproofing with beeswax boot conditioner is a must. So, if the wool socks get wet, they'll get you by long enough to get dry socks again. This is a great hack that works in extreme conditions. (Not as well as Mickey boots, same concept.) You've seen foot bombs for dry feet. If you look at the main ingredient, it's beeswax. Yes, it waterproofs your skin, keeps your skin from drying out. Antiperspirant deodorants work well too. Antiperspirant reduces wetness by using aluminum-based compounds to temporarily plug sweat glands. When applied, these salts dissolve in skin moisture and form a gel-like barrier, preventing sweat from reaching the skin's surface. When your feet are water and sweat-resistant with good weather-treated boots, the insulation like wool socks stays dry along with dry air that keeps your feet cozy. 💧
