✨ NEW BRACELETS HAVE ARRIVED! ✨
Well…most of them made it to the floor. 🤣
Two mysteriously disappeared somewhere between unpacking the box and my wrist.
Occupational hazard of owning a gift shop. 💁‍♀️
The rest are officially up for grabs at The Gypsy Box… unless I get to them first. 😂

Today was harvest day. 🌿

Armfuls of Mugwort and Goosefoot, gathered from my own garden and destined for something I have been dreaming about for a very long time.

For more than a decade, I have grown herbs, gathered wild plants, infused oils, experimented, studied, adjusted and perfected the remedies and recipes I make for myself and the people I love.

For years, it was simply something I did.

And now, somehow, all of those years are coming together.

These beautiful plants will become part of Lost Gardens Apothecary—my own small-batch line of herbal oils, balms and healing goods, grown and gathered with intention, made slowly by hand, and offered next year at The Gypsy Box.

There is something incredibly special about knowing where a plant grew. Watching it emerge from the earth. Tending it through the seasons. Harvesting it with your own hands. And then transforming it into something that can be passed from one person to another.

Today, standing in my garden with an armful of Mugwort and Goosefoot, I realized that Lost Gardens Apothecary didn’t really begin this year.

I’ve been growing it for more than a decade.

I just didn’t know yet what it was becoming.

And now I do.

Coming to The Gypsy Box in 2027.

And I have to give a little love to my husband, Terry, who graciously agreed to let me completely take over his library for drying day. 😂🌿

There are bundles of Mugwort and Goosefoot hanging from one end of the room to the other, with his dehumidifier humming away beneath them—and somehow he is perfectly fine with the fact that his library currently looks a little more like the workroom of an old-world herbalist.

Thank you, sweetheart, for making room for one more piece of this crazy, beautiful dream of mine. ❤️🌿

This is why I created The Gypsy Box!!!

🩷🩷🩷

These two beautiful souls wandered in this morning and completely filled my heart.

They recognized my artwork from when it hung at The Art of Coffee and were so excited to discover where I’d landed. We laughed, shared stories, admired beautiful things, and before we knew it, well over an hour had slipped by.

One of them took home one of my framed photographs, which always feels a little like sending a piece of my heart out into the world.

But what I’ll remember most wasn’t the sale—it was the connection.

Their smiles were contagious, their energy was absolutely magnetic, it felt like I’d found my people! 🩷

That’s what I hope The Gypsy Box becomes… not just a shop, but a place where kindred spirits find one another, where beauty slows us down, conversations begin, and strangers leave as friends.

Thank you, ladies, for making my morning so joyful. I can’t wait to welcome you back. 🩷

My tribe is finding me… and I couldn’t be more grateful.

July 31, 2026 - Montross, Virginia
Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting for
The Gypsy Box - art, gifts & healing goods.

Yesterday felt like one of those rare days you’ll carry in your heart forever.

To everyone who came to celebrate our Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting… thank you. Thank you for showing up, for your kind words, your hugs, your smiles, your encouragement, and for filling The Gypsy Box with such beautiful energy. Looking around and seeing the shop so full of people who came to celebrate this dream was something I’ll never forget.

The only thing I wish had been different is that I could have spent more time with each of you. There were so many wonderful faces that I simply couldn’t make it around to everyone. If we didn’t get a chance to talk, please know I noticed you, I appreciated you being there, and I hope you’ll come back soon. The Gypsy Box was always meant to be a place to linger, so next time we’ll have a chance to sit, visit, and share a little more of the journey together.

Dreams may begin with one person, but they are carried forward by a community. Yesterday, I felt the heart of ours.

From the bottom of my heart… thank you for believing in this little corner of beauty.

With Love and Endless Gratitude Holly 🩷

The Gypsy Box - art, gifts & healing goods.

In 1934, Mr. Carver, who was involved in numerous local business enterprises, built a Colonial Revival-style Esso service station, known as Carver's Colonial Station (15739 Kings Highway), on the lot east of the bottling plant. Since the Esso Station, the building housed a business supply store, a real estate office, an art & framing shop and an accounting service before becoming The Gypsy Box art, gifts & healing good shop all while retaining much of its historical appearance.
Designed by Richmond-based architect Clarence W. Huff, Jr., the one-story, three-bay-wide frame, domestic-scaled building features a centrally located entrance flanked by six-over-nine wooden sash windows with louvred shutters.
The building is clad with weatherboard siding and is covered by a side-facing gable roof with large modillion blocks and three gable-roofed dormers on the front. The most striking features of the building are the two exterior end chimneys that are laid in a Flemish bond with tiled double shoulders and are topped by corbelled caps.
A one-story garage wing extends from the rear of the building and, at present, connects to a rear wing of the former bottling plant building. A paved parking area now occupies the space where the gas pumps formerly stood at the front of the building.
