Tomorrow I’ll be sharing information for a book drive that I’m hosting with Mariah Walker of Operation Joy! Her goal is to gift 10,000 kiddos this holiday season. She is crazy and amazing and I have faith that she’ll do it! I really want to help especially since the area she is serving has recently been hit by Hurricane Helene. 💗

I have what seems like a crazy idea, but maybe it's not 😆 I have 15 of these Book Advent Calendars left and instead of storing them for a year, I thought I could get them into the homes of foster kiddos before Friday! Would you be interested in helping?

While these retail for 35, I got them for 25 and I'm willing to cover 10 of the cost of every one of them if someone else can sponsor a kiddo for the other 15!! Every Advent Calendar that is covered by Monday evening will be dropped off at James Storehouse Tuesday AM by yours truly so that they can get them to foster kiddo's homes before Friday!

Hi friends! I’ve been at an elementary book fair all week and there is NO service there, except for on their WiFi which is blocking Facebook 💁🏼‍♀️ if I have not responded to your text this is why 😘

I am absolutely exhausted being with kids day in and day out- school employees you rock!! And also tired of having get up early 5 days in a row- which I’m sure a lot of you do every week and you are also rockstars😝

That being said- I have loved being at this school and seeing the kids love on all the books so much. Just a few examples is the group of kids under the slide listening to someone read their new book out loud 😍And the kid who comes in every recess and reads through book after book 📚 The child who’s smile LIT up the room when I found her a book about sharks 🦈I was reminded of all of this as I was leaving today and there were two girls with big smiles working on coloring in one of our stained glass coloring book.

This is why I do what I do! I hope that at least one kid has found THE book that makes them a reader this week. And if it hasn’t happened yet I hope the 💲1,800 worth of books the school has earned can do that 💗🙌🏼💗 Thankful for everyone who works hard to get books into kid’s hands from my fellow PaperPie friends to PTA members and librarians.

Little hands and little bookworms but BIG memories. Making books a part of every holiday tradition is a great way to weave literacy into the fun of the season for your children - no matter their age. Give books as gifts, have books displayed as decoration, use books for cooking and costume inspiration, send books to school for seasonal read-alouds, make a craft based on the stories in books, do a holiday book countdown... the ideas are endless. How do you bring literacy into your holiday fun?
