3 Days at Mount Rainier: What We Loved, What We Missed & Real Pro-Tips! 🏔️🌲
Planning a quick trip to Mount Rainier National Park? Here is an honest, real look at our 3-day itinerary—including unexpected wildfire closures, amazing local eats, easy wildflower trails, and travel logistics!
📍 Our 3-Day Itinerary Breakdown:
• Day 1: Flew in and drove straight out to Taylor Shellfish Farms (3 hrs round-trip!). Beautiful ocean views, but a bit far when exhausted. Grabbed ice cream, hit Happy Lamb Hotpot for dinner, and called it a night.
• Day 2: Sunrise entrance was closed due to wildfires, so we adapted! Pro-tip: Enter via Nisqually Entrance and hit Longmire Museum ➔ Christine Falls ➔ Narada Falls ➔ Myrtle Falls ➔ Reflection Lakes! The Paradise area is beyond gorgeous, but arrive early before parking fills up. Checked into Crystal Mountain Hotel, had a delicious burger & pasta at the alpine restaurant, and caught an 8 PM sunset at Tipsoo Lake (golden hour + wildflowers were 10/10!).
• Day 3: Walked the paved, flat, and easy Nisqually Vista Trail for incredible front-row Rainier views, wildflowers, and even spotted 2 deer! Stopped at Nou Thai in Olympia for the best BBQ noodles with minced chicken (tastes just like Thailand!) before leaving our car in Bonney Lake and taking a $120 Uber to the airport (next time: renting a car at the airport for sure!).
We know this wasn't a 100% perfect itinerary and we missed a few classic spots, but that’s the reality of a short vacation! We’ll definitely be back next year to catch Sunrise. 🌅
