Just like the picture says, we just received 3 Metric TONS of surplus! 6,613 pounds of uniforms, field gear, supplies and more for YOU! March 29th is not only Vietnam Veterans Day, but also the day the last combat troops departed Vietnam. Around this same day, Hanoi released the last of the acknowledged prisoners of war. Over 3 million Americans served in this war. 58,281 brave service members lost their lives, and an additional 303,644 were wounded.
Many returning Veterans faced a bitterly divided nation when they returned, and came home to negative reactions (along with physical and psychological damage that many were left to face alone). In 1982, the Vietnam Veterans memorial (pictured) was unveiled in Washington, D.C. The names of 57,939 American men and women killed or MIA were inscribed on the memorial. Later editions brought the total to 58,200.
On this day, we want to say to you all that we are grateful. Welcome home.
