Can't wait for opening night! I hope to see you there.

The cast and director of Limelight Theater’s "Theatre People, or The Angel Next Door", by Paul Slade Smith, are hard at work bringing this rip-roaring comedy to life!
When a group of theatre people spends a weekend in a mansion with thin walls, hilarious antics and overheard conversations threaten plans to adapt a young novelist’s book into a play—and put his heart in danger. Can the power of theatre save the day?

✏️ Everyone has a story. Whose would YOU like to tell?

The "2026 Gift of Reading Essay Contest" invites local students in "grades 2–12" to imagine they’re a reporter. Who would you interview, and why? A grandparent, teacher, athlete, artist, or someone else whose story makes you curious?

In "200–300 words", tell us who you’d choose, what you’d like to learn, and what questions you’d ask.

🏆 Winners receive certificates and prizes, with winning essays published in The Morgan Hill Times and featured at BookSmart!

📅 "Entries due Sunday, November 29, 2026, by 5 p.m."

Presented by BookSmart Community Advantage, in memory of journalist and longtime young-writer champion "Marty Cheek".
