More “Tales from the Shop” today! This was an older King tuba in need of some love. You can see it wouldn’t even stand on its own!

Mike loves these projects! When something that looks like this comes in we just tell him, “ I bet you can’t fix THIS!” He steps up every time. Especially on the tubas!

Some horns get a ding here and there that students then start to think it’s ok to add to the “character” of the horn by adding their own damage. This one needed to be partially disassembled in order to access all the spots in need. Not a quick fix, but it looks much better now!

Tales from the shop: This trumpet came in a few days ago. Apparently the youngster that plays it got disturbed about something, and took it out on his horn (to the chagrin of his parents, who are still renting it). I actually have fun working on this type of project - and it provides a great sense of accomplishment. The photos are before and after, with a couple shots of the dent removal process in between (please excuse the messy bench in the background).
