Just in time for international cat day, August 8, I just finished a new batch of our Leather Shop cat toys. Also known as The Worlds Best Cat Toy*.
We sold out of them at the SLO renaissance faire so this time I made an extra large batch. As always these are made to last and when something like the string does wear out it can be easily replaced to keep the fun going.
The price is also still $40 each.

This Sunday from 11am-4pm I will be open at the shop for the first ever Central Coast Handmade Hop.
A bunch of the local craft stores will be having a sort of open house to share who they are and what they do. There will be store discounts, demonstrations of various crafts, and raffle prizes.
My free craft will be leather 3 strand mystery braid wrist bands. You will get to learn how to do the braid, cut leather, and set a snap. Plus get a cool wrist band when you are done.

Be aware that while I will be open for the Handmade Hop and of course retail sales, I will not be offering any of our repair or custom services as those are still temporarily closed.

It’s that time again. The Central Coast Renaissance Faire is here!!!
We will be closed Friday and Saturday at the shop while we run our booth at the Faire.
If you are able come out and visit us there. The Renaissance Faire is the best. Good food, drink, and entertainment. Lots of vendors selling all kinds of cool stuff.
The faire is at the Laguna Lake park in San Luis Obispo. Saturday and Sunday July 18-19. 10am-6pm.

The shop will be opening late tomorrow (Tuesday 6/9). I will be in the shop by Noon instead of the usual 9am.

Due to being vastly behind schedule on a number of large jobs, as well as being down to myself and one part time apprentice to run the shop and do the leatherwork…

All of our repair and custom services are closed and I will not be taking on any new work until I am able to:

a) complete all of the work currently on my books
b) hire and train someone(s) to help at the shop with both leatherwork and customer service
c) figure out a way to schedule AND complete work so that I don’t continue to have this problem.

This process will most likely take several months. I have it as my goal to be fully up and running with some kind of repair and custom service by January, though if I can do it earlier I will.

Until then I will continue to operate a full retail shop selling all of our usual leather goods like belts, wallets, handbags, pet supplies, leather apparel and more; as well as leather working tools and supplies for doing your own leatherwork.

I will continue to sew patches on to leather vests, jackets, and such but it will be a more limited amount that I can do each day/week so it’s best to call and make an appointment.

Lastly, I will be sure to post when I will be taking on new work once I know when that will be. On posters at my shop as well as my page.

So…. I did “something” to my hand today at work. Pretty sure it was either the heavy hand sewing or trying to pull the new upholstery on to a bike seat. Maybe the combination. Either way it hurts like hell and I’m probably not going to be opening the shop on time tomorrow (Friday 5/8). More likely open at noon.

If you are a customer of mine and have had work done at my shop. Something repaired or something made.
I greatly appreciate your business. But please stop telling people about my repair service.
The number of people coming in every day, from all over, saying they heard I can fix things is so far beyond what I can accommodate that it is seriously affecting my ability to get ANYTHING done at the shop at all. This is not the kind of work and business I can just turn up the production to meet demand as there are only so many hours a day that I can do work.
I will continue to carry a great selection of belts and wallets and other leather goods that we make at my shop as well as tools and supplies for leather work, so please feel free to spread the word about that. I want to continue to provide a leather repair service for the people of the central coast. Just please understand that there is only so much actual work I can do.

Just a reminder that drop off time for April’s repair session starts Wednesday (4/1) at 9am. I will be taking in new work until closing time on Tuesday 4/7.
If you have something leather that needs fixing bring it in and I’ll see if I can get it working again.
