So this is my friend & the reason why Jalopy's Smells Good. Cliff notes version for those of you, like me, who haven't read anything since the Book It program bribed us with Pizza...Nathan is good people and has an awesome store. Nathan has worked hard at this Media Thing and the Media Gremlins wiped out all his hard work. Bad Gremlins. Please help us get Wicksy back to a bazillion followers. It would make me happy. We love Derby Day at Jalopy's! This Silver bowl is a part of my personal collection. In 1925, it was given to Jockey Earl Sande to commemorate his KY Derby win on Flying Ebony. 5 years later he won the Triple Crown on Gallant Fox.

This one stings a little...
The short answer: "yeah." Now before you all call one of them hoarder shows on me... thinking you know a guy.

The shop wasn't started because I had a collection breeding like rabbits in my basement. It started from a collection I already had for online sales and another location. When I opened the store, naturally I started sourcing exponentially more inventory. You know, kinda like I was starting a storefront. While to some it looks like someone's collection gone wild, it is a business, with a plan. My inventory didn't get out of hand, I got ambitious.

(I do not do consignment, because I like to be in control of pricing. Especially when we have sales. It makes it so much easier.)

Jalopy: noun, Dilapitated old vehicle.
When thinking of a name for my new adventure, I wanted something different, a little funny and a little mysterious. The word "jalopy" one day just crawled out of my subconscious, oddly narrated in my grandfather's voice. That's what he called my first car.
While it is meant to have a negative connotation, for me and like most car guys...it was more a term of endearment. It was mine and I loved that car.
Jalopy's is just like that... something may be just junk or meaningless to you but could mean something or even everything to someone else. So the name fit...
Plus it's a nice tribute to both my grandfathers, who I can still hear them saying that silly word " jalopy"... it makes me smile.
My superheros didn't wear capes.

I know it is one of the greatest sports weekends, The Masters. I would rather be on my couch, too. Let them shop in peace, come up to Jalopy's on the second floor. You can hang out, stay out of her way and keep up with the leaderboard. Play chess not checkers...

At Jalopy's, we love space.

In honor of Artemis 2...sitting in my living room I just looked up at noticed my Apollo 11 crew photo not so much as just picture but a window into humanity.

Whatever your take is on NASA, space travel, moon landings or earth shape, you've gotta admit... the sheer expanse of what's out there beyond us is surreal, beautiful & humbling.

Maybe it's my introverted side, but there's something warm and fuzzy about a place with absolutely no people, no noise... and no chance of anyone asking me to help them move a couch.

While Jalopy’s might have the feel of a backroad museum, with a splash of a Cracker Barrel, and a bit of my 1987 teenage bedroom vibe, we aren’t actually running a non-profit. We’re trying to make a buck or two.

We find interesting stuff, clean everything, fix what’s broken if possible and slap on a price tag that is easy on the wallet compared to others.

To answer the question directly: yes, everything is for sale. OK, kinda, don't get any ideas about the Gardens sign or Speed Racer. Those stay here. Everything else? Like they say everything has a price.

Due to our quaint “tucked-away” location, nestled in the corner of the second floor at the MAC (yes, it’s a multi-level adventure). We still get this question...
For the record, Jalopy’s has been holding it down at the MAC for just over a year. Personally, I have actually been lurking these halls for closer to 3 years... thanks to my wife’s studio, Creating Joy, a kids’ drawing studio just around the corner from us.
So really, I'm not new… Jalopy's is just part of many of the MAC’s hidden treasures. Find us once, and you’ll never forget where we are... probably.
