Old Goat Lures

Old Goat Lures designs and manufactures lures for salmon, kokanee, trout, and walleye.

We use 3D printers to build our lure prototypes and test them in the waters of the Pacific Northwest. Once a prototype is proven, we paint, build, and package here on the Palouse and offer for sale through our online store.

5" OG2 Purple/Blue-Scales!

We've added a 5" model of the OG2 in purple/blue-scales. (When we fish our 5" OG2s, we fish them solo--no flasher. We've found that you can pack the leader-channel with a thick scent like Smelly Jelly and that scent trail will last for quite a while.)

These 5" lures are available now on the store.

Included (below) is a photo of an unrigged 5", 3.9", and 3.3" lure above a steel ruler to help give a perspective on the difference in sizes.

If you were to troll these lures next to each other, at the same speed, you would notice that the smallest (3.3") size vibrates at a faster frequency than 3.9" size, and, the 3.9" size vibrates at a faster frequency than the 5" size. (The smaller the lure, the faster the frequency.)

First Salmon on the Purple/Blue-Scales OG2!

Just received a report from the first fisherman to fish the 3.3" OG2 in purple/blue-scales. He was fishing Puget Sound in MA9 this morning.

He took this chinook 15 minutes after putting his line in the water. Trolling 10 feet off the bottom.

New for 2026: Purple/Blue-Scales OG2!

If you've ever caught fresh herring for bait, you likely noticed a shimmer of blue and purple as you unhooked that fish from your jig. (See the photo below.)

We've created a new OG2 in the 3.3" and 3.9" size that combines a fluorescent-purple with blue-scales to create a similar effect. They're available now on the store: oldgoatlures.com/store.html

Resident Coho on the 3.3" Yellow-Glow OG2!

We had a customer and his son hit Puget Sound this morning off of Jeff Head for the resident coho. They were fishing the 3.3" yellow-glow OG2 behind a green West Coast flasher. They had 40 to 60 feet of cable down.

New Glow Lures for the Kokanee and Trout fishermen!

We've added a yellow-glow in the 1.8" and 2.13" sizes for the kokanee and trout fishermen. You can get them rigged with a kokanee leader (tandem hooks); or, you can buy a 2-pack of unrigged lure bodies.

When you're fishing these lures, use a UV-light to charge them before you put them behind the boat.

We're including photos (below) of a lure body that we charged for a minute with an inexpensive, battery-operated UV-light purchased from Amazon.

(Note that you can also charge them with ambient sunlight; they just won't glow as bright as when charged with a dedicated UV-light.)

We were able to get a few boxes of our OG2s in yellow-glow to the Homer Winter King Salmon Tournament. They'll be given out as prizes the day of the derby!
