Boat launch build

We wanted to convert the beach into a boat launch while still keeping enough sand for the little one to play, the result was perfect. It’s a two day project, but only because the first section has to be poured separate. A big thanks to Joshua Benjamin(Concrete by Josh), we made a great team my man. Erica drove that machine like a pro!!

What a process, over the last 7 years we have painted the concrete blue, gray, taupe, and cool decked it. I had one of the best companies and friends do it for me, unfortunately every year the paint would peel, and the cool deck would flake somewhere. Every year he came back for nothing and fixed it, it’s no fault of the installer that’s the nature of the beast with painted concrete, sometimes it takes and sometimes it doesn’t. We were ready to go back to a washed concrete look. Thank goodness I had a good buddy to call with all the right equipment that specializes in this type of work. Chris Kierran with Delta Decorative Concrete spent 3 days pain stakingly grinding the whole pool deck. They used a 7 in grinder with a diamond cup blade hooked to a Diama pro system Vac. They also used a Lavina 25x walk behind machine for the areas that didn’t have any cool deck. My girls, and I power washed after with a walk behind disc we picked up on Amazon for 400 bucks. We couldn’t be happier with the result, the whole back yard is looking amazing. If your looking to remove paint or something else that’s on your concrete, it can be done with little dust and a lot of elbow grease. LSU Butcher block

I took a couple left over scraps from the fire pit I built a few weeks ago and planed it down to 1 1/2 inches. I needed it wider so I poured a metallic resin river, next time I think I’ll try white. I used a stencil to get the basic layout for the eye and stained it with purple and amber yellow. The top was done with glass cast and gold flakes, it really came out nice for a couple scrap pieces of wood. The time lapse of the resin top curing with a torch is really neat.

We were asked to build a large farmhouse style table for the high school baseball team’s pavilion. This one was a fun one, it’s 14’ long and took about 6 hours to build. It’s all #1 treated pine, so it should last for quite a while. The link below is a 4 min time lapse of the build.
