There’s something especially humbling about being supported by the community that helped raise you. Tavares is where I spent some of my formative years and where I proudly graduated from Tavares High School. To receive the unanimous endorsement from the individual members of the Tavares City Council is both an honor and a responsibility that I do not take lightly. I am sincerely thankful for their friendship, their trust, and their belief that I will continue to fight for the people of Lake, Sumter, and west Orange counties in Congress.

I grew up here in Lake County, I took our local National Guard Infantry Soldiers to Iraq as their 1st Sergeant, I’ve raised my kids here, my entire family has attended Lake Sumter College, we go to church together here, I’ve taken your kids camping as their ScoutMaster, I sold you your first rifle as your local gun shop owner, I served as President of our local Kiwanis Club, you chose me as your conservative State Representative, your State Senator serving both Lake and Sumter Counties, and your Lake County Property Appraiser. Now I’m humbly asking that you choose me one more time to be your Champion in our nation’s Capital to fight for you. To defend our freedoms, our constitutional rights, our faith, our families, to protect our borders and to keep America strong economically and militarily. I love our community and our country. Ok ladies let’s start packing!! I was showing Tracy at my gun shop a few Saturdays ago how easy it is to carry concealed in her purse with a full sized pistol. And she loved it!! ❤️🇺🇸 and don’t forget to take a fi****ms training class too.

My Gun Shop has completed the nation’s longest and our 140th year “Gun Violence in the Work Force study”!!! And once again in a business saturated with easily available guns and ammo, I mean everybody including Grandma is packing, not one incident of gun violence not one incident in 140 years. Conclusion- No correlation between access to guns and gun violence!! 140 year study!!! The AW Peterson Gun Shop established in 1886.

Here’s Ambassador Mike Waltz. Having America’s UN Ambassador with such close ties to Lake County is pretty awesome. Mike is a former Special Forces officer who represented North Lake in Congress and he married a Umatilla girl, Julia Nesheiwat, who served as President Trump’s First term Homeland Security Advisor. We are lucky to have him defend America in the very hostile United Nations.

We are deeply saddened to share that our incredible shop manager, Matt Dorman, has passed away after bravely battling a series of health challenges, most recently a severe blood infection. Matt faced every obstacle with strength and courage, and he never stopped fighting.
He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Matt was a dedicated and hardworking professional who truly cared about our customers. His exceptional gunsmithing skills and his kindness made a lasting impact on both our team and everyone he served.
As owners of this business, we (Roy and Carey) feel incredibly fortunate to have had Matt as our manager. Even in his final days, he remained committed to the shop, asking from his hospital room how he could continue to help. That was simply who he was.
We loved Matt like family, and our hearts are with Jennifer & Lauren, his mother and sister, during this difficult time. We ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
A service to honor Matt’s life will be held on Sunday, May 24th at 2:00 PM at Beyers Funeral Home in Leesburg. All are welcome to attend.
