If you follow me, you know I create things based on what I find. It keeps things interesting and unique! This project was no different as it used to be a queen-sized boxsprings. I wish I would have taken pictures along the way, but they honestly would have been boring, so instead, I'm going to give you the cliff notes/instructions so you can do this yourself!

Taking the boxsprings outside, I cut the gauzy layer off of the bottom revealing what you can see in the pictures--the industrial wire that is impossible to bend and the wood frame. The top side had a cushy fabric cover and what looked like a moving blanket. I removed all of the staples that held these pieces to the frame, and created two moving blankets. There were extra cushions around the corners, which I kept for sponges for staining. The extra pieces of fabric that were pretty chewed up became rags. Yes, this was a lot of work, but it felt good to salvaging nearly every piece of this!

I knew as soon as I saw the framework that I was going to make a display shelf out of it. The challenge was the metal pieces were all V's, not straight across, so I needed to put something down to create a flat surface without decreasing the height of each shelf. Not only that, but the metal was below the face board, so I needed something to raise it. After trying many things, I tried a piece of left-over laminate flooring & I found my answer! My husband then helped me by joining two boards on the shelf in the middle (center post hides the line) and cutting a 45 degree angle in back so they would lay flat. They were thin enough they sit on the wood frame in front and rest on the wire in the back, creating a flat surface. I then painted the bare wood frame with an "oops" paint I had to finish the transformation.

We anchored it to the wall with some metal straps and ran some patio lighting under the shelves.

This is the finished project! I love it! Feel free to share!
