With the help of family and friends, this weekend has been filled with progress!

John Swain and Marshall Land volunteered their time and tools to cut down the dead tree in the empty lot that will become the park for outdoor events.

Steph Wilderman, our future bookshop manager, volunteered her time to help renovate what will become the main bookshop room. 

None of this could be possible without their help, and it is so appreciated! Also, thank you to all of the people in Mount Olive who have welcomed us, stopped by to say hello, and are quickly becoming our friends and community. Together, we are building something very special here in Mount Olive!

Last night, I decided to test out methods of removing the glue and carpet from the bookshop floor. The plan is to strip the floor back down to the bare cement and seal it for an industrial-style aesthetic.

While cleaning up debris in the empty lot that will become the park at Beatnik Books, I discovered “buried treasure” that I plan to repurpose for a future project.
