It's been hot in NC, and these hogs are happy and cool. We currently use a hose pipe and cool well water to make our wallows.

Pigs do not like to drink water above 68 degrees. Important to refresh troughs and keep wallows cool and topped off. Hogs do not sweat and rely on mud to mitigate heat. These guys seem to be enjoying life even when it is feeling tropical

Improvement of the soil. Hogs in a woodland setting offers plenty of snack opportunities and the process takes the leftovers and breaks them down to yield better growing conditions for native vegetation or seeds/ plants/ trees.

Finally shaking off winter, on to a new spring green pasture. The Red Wattles LOVED the new forest plot they will be working for the next few weeks. Angie and Jackie had planted some of the pigs favorite greenery, and there are many wallows near the shallow creek to lounge in.

What is not seen on the video is the cussing, yelling, and the struggles. Establishing our niche as a family farm has been an odyssey. Many fails before sweetness. Things are very slowly getting easier. We have learnt so much in our 4 yrs @ apocalypse acres. Grateful for our life journey, and to all those that have helped
