A moment of honesty:
Being in the specialty realm of retail in 2026 is no joke! I have never worked so hard in my years of having my own shop...
I have been thinking that this eventually will get easier. Seven years in gift and I can say, it is not going to become easier!
One of my dearest friends has been a godsend; she faithfully comes into the boutiques and takes photos of the stores so I have content for websites and social media. has been there to encourage and if you know her, you know that she spreads joy and warmth everywhere she goes!
When I was going through our latest photos, this one here stopped me in my tracks! This particular day I was second and triple guessing if boutique world is still for me. I was a little sulky and thinking maybe the magic is gone. Business is down this year, and I honestly thought, maybe no one likes my displays anymore (I am laughing now, maybe it was hormones!!). This photo allowed me to see what it is that I do every month in ny shop! I buy and build collections in theory, The shipments come in, my team gets them into our computer, we tag boxes of boxes of product, and then they pull the items for me to put out on display for you. I just go about doing my thing each month, having fun and getting my job done. But this particular moment, I saw this simple display with the backdrop of our mountain and saw so much beauty! Everything that is created for you, from the outside presentation to inside the store.
So, this is not the end of a story for me or you! It is a beginning of a new chapter of magic, resilience, growth, and much more beauty to come! There is no stopping me now. And if I even consider for a minute, Taryn will be encouraging me to the next step. We all need friends that see the real us!
