Growing a Legacy in Our Community

Urban Forest Nursery was honored to be part of a special Liberty Tree project commemorating America’s 250th anniversary.

Jim and Annie Barborinas (owners of Urban Forest Nursery, Inc.) donated and planted a Princeton Elm for the project organized by the America 250 Ann Washington Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR).

The tree was planted at Maple Park in La Conner, WA (Proposed to soon be called Liberty Tree Park) as a living tribute to our nation’s history and future. The original Liberty Elm tree was cut down by British loyalists in Boston on in 1775. This Princeton elm tree was planted in memory of this historic occasion to pass on this event for generations to come.

Member of the community gathered for a special dedication ceremony honoring the Liberty Tree and those who helped bring the project to life. We are proud to see this tree become a lasting part of our community for generations to come.

TREE Fund's Spring Grant and Scholarship Application Cycle is currently happening through March 15. See treefund.org for information and application details for our two research grants, two education grants, and six student scholarships.

The Barborinas Family Fund Grant awards grants for research focused on tree production, planting and transplanting techniques, and the improvement of tree varieties for urban conditions, to focus on root science. The award amount is up to $10,000.
