This antique Shirvan was woven in the Eastern Caucasus region, also known as modern-day Republic of Azerbaijan, circa 1880’s to early 1900’s, making this historical treasure well over a century in age.

The lattice-like design had been a popular motif in this region at the time, truly a work representing its era.

Due to its hand-knotted nature, one can get a glimpse into the lives of the weavers who worked on it—every little shift and imperfection a piece of humanity they left with us from a time long forgotten.

This Persian Sarouk design was made with super-fine quality by quality weavers in China. It incorporates a floral flourish that emanates a classical Persian feel, with a dark base color which makes it a unique piece out of other Sarouk designs. Its bright beige border gives it a boost of contrast, attracting the eye. It’s 12 x 15 feet size (3.66m x 4.57m) makes it ideal for furnishing a larger space.
