The time has finally come!
Registration for The Nock Point Knock Out is finally open!

Some notable changes this year:
- We will be following lancaster scoring procedures meaning X-ring = 11 points during qualifications and the 12 ring will be in play during the shoot offs .
- We will be adding a Friday 2pm line in order to increase shooter capacity and reduce crowd size during our more popular line times.
- We have set up a new registration software making it far easier to get signed up for the event and it can all be done on our website. Link in bio
- Finally, we will be enforcing a late registration fee for anyone that signs up after January 1st 2027. So, please register before the first of the year

I can't wait to see everyone again this year! Let's make it bigger and better than the last one!

I am so pleased to announce that our Sunday league night will be back up and running starting Oct 11th! We will be breaking up the season into 3 sessions this year each consisting of about 6 weeks.

For those new to our league, we structure it to be very friendly and fun for anyone wanting to dip their toes into the tournament community, while also keeping it competitive enough for an experienced archer to enjoy.

For anyone interested in an extra challenge, you can sign up for our handicapped shoot-off round for an additional $5 each week. We will calculate a handicap based on your qualifying scores to put everyone on an even playing field. Top 3 winners will split the pot at the end.

Each week will consist of:

Free pizza for anyone participating

Two warm up ends - you may shoot as many arrows as you like within 2 minutes

One 30 arrow scoring round shot in the vegas shooting format (multicolor target, 3 arrow ends)

Winners will be announced for the qualifying round each week

Handicap calculation and bracketing

Head to head 9 arrow matches to advance in the bracket

Requirements to particpate

All archers must have their own equipment

All archers must be able to keep their arrows (mostly) on a standard 40cm indoor target face

All archers must arrive before the conclusion of the two warm ups ends or they will not be able to participate

We hope to see you this Sunday at 6pm!

Nathaniel Farmer has spent a lot of time at The Nock Point putting in the work. So when his first elk hunt finally gave him an opportunity, he was ready to execute.

Here’s Nathaniel’s story:

“
It was day 7 of my first ever elk hunt. I changed spots midday and found myself walking up a valley I’d never been to before but another hunter had told me he’d seen a dozen cows in. As I walked I started seeing more and more sign. This was also the first time I had heard bugles outside of first and last light.

Eventually I started creeping my way down the trail because I could tell I was getting close to the bugling bulls. Eventually I’m close enough that I just stand there. Slip off my backpack. Arrow nocked.

The bulls are just 50 or 60 yards on the other side of some thick vegetation. Every 30 seconds to 2 minutes they scream out aggressive bugles. I decide to get in closer so I crawl up another 20 yards or so on hands and knees. I knew not to get any closer. One bad swirl of the wind and I would ruin this rut fest.

As I’m sitting on my knees I hear a few cow mews. A few seconds after that all hell breaks loose and branches are snapping and I can tell there’s an elk heading my direction.

I immediately come upright on my knees and come to full draw. I notice it’s a spike. The only type of bull I can kill in this unit. I move my head to double check the antlers. He catches my movement and pauses.

My head goes back to look through the sight. The entire sight is elk hide.

Without thinking I let loose an arrow towards a target with a heartbeat for the very first time.

I watch the arrow go into him. He runs 40 yards then starts walking with his tail tucked. Shot was low and back. Not good.

No blood found. No arrow. Stress.

I let him be overnight in fear of bumping him. With the help of a friend we find blood the next morning. He only went 250 yards. It got down to freezing. All the meats good.

My first ever bow kill.
”

From putting in reps in the range, putting arrows on animal, to packing it out congratulations sir on your first elk.
