Starting Thursday, July 23, all plants will be 50% off. Chris has done an extraordinary job keeping the “doors” open for Windy Top, but it is now time to close those doors. Windy Top will stay open for as long as there are plants to sell, and will then close. (Because of the nature of the sale, it’s impossible to say what day Windy Top will be sold out of plants. We will keep this page updated as the sale unfolds.)
Thank you. All of you. New customers this year, people who have come here for decades, native plant enthusiasts, community members building butterfly gardens for schools and shared spaces, nonprofits that we partner with, butterfly enthusiasts from the annual butterfly festival, folks who “like” our page, and local nurseries who are a part of this close-knit community we have.
Thank you - especially - to our dedicated volunteers from all walks of life who stepped in with love and gusto to help Chris after John died. Opening this year would not have been possible without you.
Thank all of you for keeping this community alive. Thank you for keeping John’s vision alive. Thank you for honoring the spirit of what John lovingly created for all of us.
Windy Top will close its doors, but what John built will now live on through all of us.
Be kind to one another. Offer advice on native plants. Learn from one another. Share plants freely.
Do what John would do.
Here is John, in his element, last summer just before he knew he was sick. You can see his joy and purpose. On this day, he was carrying water into the woods behind the property for the children who were bussed in from Camden to experience a little bit of nature on his property.
I feel like I can speak for all of us when I say: John, we love you. We miss you. And we promise to carry you in our hearts, and in our gardens, for the rest of our lives. Until we meet again, my friend. 💚🌱
