A quick in-progress photo of the space!!

Finishing up electrical work and a couple walls to separate production space from front of house and a supply closet area, then plumbers come in to knock out their work!

After that, painting and installing equipment!

Great stuff!

Also, this weekend is farmer's market at Minnetrista and the Guided Chocolate Tasting Event at the Culinary Cottage!

Preventative Maintenance, when you make the replacement juuuuuuust before the thing snaps in two!

My small-batch test melangers are work ponies, and I've put them through a lot over the last six years, but it's time to finally replace two belts and let my new third melanger do the heavy lifting until I get the new belts in place

The top belt is a brand new belt, the middle belt is one I wasn't quite sure needed replacing until the batch I made last night for my upcoming tasting event was reallllllllly sluggish, and the bottom belt was on the out-of-commission melanger that was really not even rotating let alone grinding

I'm fond of these machines for what they do and for the lessons I learned through them, both in chocolate making and in tiny repairs and maintenence

The day is soon come for when all my glorious machines will be whirring happily away in a new shop and making delightful smells possible in the little corner of the world where I live, work, and play!!

Until then, take good care of each other and f**k all the transphobes trying their worst to ruin the WNBA 💅

My first early morning in the future home of Q***r Chocolatier!

It's just as lovely, peaceful, and full of potential as I used to feel when I walked in the original shop in the Village! 🧡

That's as good of a sign as I truly need..

I dropped off all the supplies and products for tonight's pop-up for Downtown Muncie's First Thursday

I'll be at my day job today for a pretty long day so I will be late to the pop-up BUT how lucky am I that my friend Floyd will be covering the first portion of a first-time event!🥰🥰

📣Q***r Chocolatier First Thursday Pop-Up📣

Hey fam, this Thursday, Aug. 6, Q***r Chocolatier will have a pop-up booth at our future home on 103 N High St. in Downtown Muncie during First Thursday!!

There will be truffles and bars available, so come get your fix since I won't get to be at this weekend's farmers market...

We'll start setting up in the 5 o'clock hour and run until 8 or when we sell out, whichever happens first!

But also keep an eye on the weather... if it gets bad, we'll postpone for another time for a future pop-up opportunity!!

Let's hope for good weather and a great chance to feel out our new spot!!!

Gonna be a busy couple of weeks getting ready for the upcoming Guided Chocolate Tasting Event on August 15th!!!!

I'm going to roast, winnow, grind, temper, and mold chocolate bars from six distinct origins for folks to savor, evaluate, and discuss with new friends!

Make sure you get your ticket soon and be ready to take home some delicious treats, including assortment truffle boxes that will be available for purchase!

Looking forward to this fun event!!

I've been walking through my garden each day after I get home from work and taking some photos of the development of all the growing things

But last night I got very protective as we had a gnarly storm came through Muncie (during which we lost power at home for about 7 hours but got to learn a board game that the three of us played over battery-powered light and candle!) and lots of my hardy tomato plants got blown down

I went outside in the rain and restaked them and gave them words of encouragement!

This year's gardening has been my biggest in terms of square footage but it's also been a mix of planning and haphazardness with careful planting at the beginning and an extreme lack of consistent w**ding

But nature kinda doesn't mind, I think

Most of the fruit that's growing in the w**ds have been left alone by squirrels (those greedy jerks) so I've not felt so compelled to w**d

Plus, I'm reminded that good is good and doesn't have to be perfect to still be good, the tomatoes are delicious and taking great care of themselves!

Peppers and squash are coming along, too!

And a few eggplants

And possibly some potatoes and onions, but that's yet to be seen since they're, you know, underground

We had some cucumbers early on but those squirrels got more than their fair share of them which has made them an enemy of my wife

I'm learning and growing alongside the garden!

The season has been good for me and I'm grateful!

Who am I seeing at tomorrow's farmers market???👀

I'll have truffles and bars for y'all!

Come stock up as I won't be at the market on Saturday 8/1, so come on by tomorrow to get your chocolate fix!

I'll be spending time over the first couple of weekends in August moving equipment out of storage and into the new shop so the next couple of times you'll be able to find me are 7/25 at the Minnetrista Farmers Market and 8/6 for First Thursday as a pop-up outside my new shop!!

Thanks for the encouragement and support and cheer! It means so much to me to get back open and producing again at scale!!
