A most tedious rush seating job. 1/8inch diameter rush in order to fi through the narrow groove at the rear, more than 80 passes through it, over 100 wraps on the front. But it's done. I stopped counting the hours.

In basketmaking demonstrations at Mountain Craft Days in Somerset PA, I often talk about my first venture in white oak splits, helping my grandfather put seats in two rocking chairs for my mother when I was eight years old. This is one of those chairs, with the same seat, 70 years later, in my sister's home in Marion, Alabama.
