โ๏ธ Summer Heat Is Harder on Dogs Than You Think: Think a quick walk mid day is harmless? New research says heat stress can begin in as little as 10 minutes, often with no obvious signs.
Itโs not just the air temperature. Hot pavement, direct sun, and humidity all add up to serious strain on your dogโs body, even on days that donโt feel extreme.
Panting doesnโt mean your dog is handling the heat well, and dehydration can happen faster than youโd think.
Before you head out, check the pavement with your hand; if itโs too hot for you, itโs too hot for your dog. Walk early morning and after the sun goes down; stick to shade and grass whenever you can, and keep an eye on the early warning signs, not just the obvious ones.
