Hi everyone. I'm Les Payne. I have the Muskogee Crybabies group. And a few others.
With Halloween nearing closer here's a story I wrote for your entertainment. You'll have to decide for yourself how much of it is true. And what has happened in my life for me to come to know these things? And why I'm staying inside this upcoming Halloween night.
This is information you may need to know. Before. Halloween. Arrives.
I guess it was some 8 years ago on a Halloween night that I was driving along and had to let my dog use the bathroom. Jack. My faithful dog of many years. Who has just looked at me and whined that whine he does when he needs to go to the bathroom. Seeing a cemetery up ahead I felt like it was a good idea to pull in there where no one can see us and let him do his thing. So I pulled in the entrance and headed towards the back of the cemetery. There was a full moon that night plus I had my headlights on but even then it was fairly spooky the way the moonlight shone through the tops of the trees and with all the headstones in front of us standing up out of the leaves that covered the ground. I let Frank out to do his thing while I stayed in the car.
And then I noticed it. Some sort of figure moving in the distance behind the headstones. I could see in the moonlight as the figure walked past the headstones other figures would join it. Soon there were 20 or so of these figures walking towards an old faded green van. The first figure got into the driver's seat of the van while the other figures entered the side of the van. The van did that slow cranking thing like it hadn't been started in a long time. But start it finally did.
Once that old green van started Jack came and jumped in through the side window of our car without me even opening the door. He kept looking in the direction of the van only glancing at me once and whining before he dived in to the floor of the car.
Once the lights of the van came on that was it. We took off like our lives depended on it. And maybe they did. Speeding out of the cemetery one of my wheels ran off the edge of the pavement for a moment. I saw in the rear-view mirror that the old faded green van was headed our way. My breathing stopped. Jack whined. But I just floored it. And kept it floored until we got home.
That Halloween night, at midnight, weird things started happening in our town. All of our street lights suddenly went out. Our phones stopped working. And whenever that old green van was driving down a street the Halloween decorations on that street would somehow come alive. This all continued until the sun came up the next day.
So yes, I think it's probably ok if you take your family trick or treating on Halloween night. Just be sure you get home before midnight. Lock your doors. And don't even look outside until the sun comes up.
