Today, Bank Square Books is celebrating 17 years under the ownership of Annie Philbrick! Annie bought the store on this day in 2006 with Patience Banister and Jane Hannon. A bookstore has existed on this corner since at least 1991, and we’re grateful for the people before us who took risks and believed a bookstore was needed in this community. We wouldn’t be here without them. A special thanks to Annie, whose continued leadership behind the scenes keeps our doors open every day! 🐋📚🎉

Words cannot express how blessed we are to be part of such a wonderful community. For all who have reached out, the fire was contained to the marina property, along with one adjacent home. Because of the heroic first responders, all are safe and damage to the town as a whole was avoided.

Thank you to the Mystic, Groton, North Stonington, New London, Norwich, and all other responding fire departments for their heroism during this tragic event. We’d also like to recognize the Stonington and Westerly Police and CT Department of Public Works for their efforts to keep the area safe.

Our thoughts are with our neighbors, the owners of Seaport Marine. Please note: some outlets are stating the fire was at Mystic Seaport. This is not the case.
