My policy on buying cards:
I do buy cards but only those for which I have a market; therefore please note; I am not interested in baseball cards from sets produced between 1986 and 2000. I have more of these years than "you can shake a stick at.". These cards were mass produced and flooded the market!
Sports cards are valuable if (1) they feature a major star or hall of famer; (2) they are part of a set with limited availability (they are old; 1990 cards are not old!); (3)) they are in good to mint condition (grade); and (4) they feature a player with high appeal in our area (for example: Ricky Henderson is a hall of famer but I have never sold one of his cards, but Biggio, Bagwell, Nolan Ryan are Texas heroes and their cards sell regularly). I prefer to buy older cards from the 1950s to early 1980s. I regularly have requests for these years.
Since I buy cards for resale, I cannot offer you current Beckett prices; I primarily buy cards from people who have a price in their mind; if I have to assess your collection for its value, most likely my offer to you will not exceed 25% of their published value. If you want me to just assess the value of your collection, I should charge an assessment fee, but I do not charge such a fee but do expect to buy your cards that are of value to me!
With all of that said, I am willing to visit with you face-to-face if you call me in advance and we can set an appointment date and time (call 936-615-5331or call me at 936-615-6313: Fredonia Vintage House). I do not work at the store every day!
