Jones Enterprise Breaks Ground on North Village Market
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – North Village Market, LLC, a division of Nacogdoches-based family investment group Jones Enterprises LTD, began construction on North Village Market with a ground breaking ceremony on Sept. 13, 2012.
Members of the Nacogdoches Economic Development Company (NEDCO), Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce and City of Nacogdoches officials were among the group of people who gathered on the former family home site of C.S. and Christine Jones.
The project is a joint venture with the Jones and Pool families of Nacogdoches. Family members Christine Jones; Stanley and Diane Jones; Charles and Rose Ann (Jones) Pool; Clay and Andrea Jones; Charles and Jo Marie Jones; Ed and Melissa Pool; Chase, Abby (Pool) and Charlee Taylor attended the event.
North Village Market in Nacogdoches, Texas, is a part of a three-phase mixed-use development that will include restaurant, retail and entertainment venues. Located on the west side of North Street/US Highway 59, the center's first phase of 4,500 square feet will open in the fall of 2013, and an additional 8,000 square feet of retail space (Phase 2) are in the plans. Renderings of the proposed elevation unveiled at the event included a “Phase 3” that Leasing Manager Ed Pool said will be developed commensurate with the needs of marketplace.
“Not only will this development bring scores of new jobs to Nacogdoches, but it also will appeal to our out-of-town business prospects looking to relocate to a community that values its history and heritage as it looks to the future,” said NEDCO Chairman
David Alders. “Like all of us, they like aesthetic surroundings, and they like owners who have staying power and integrity, who deliver on their promises, and certainly the Jones and Pool families fit that bill.”
North Village Market will be anchored by Newk’s®, an express casual dining restaurant with an emphasis on freshness and flavor. This new location is one of seven Texas locations in the 11-state Newk’s® restaurant franchise. The Nacogdoches location will seat 150 and employ 42.
"We are excited to grow our local restaurant ownership family with the addition of Newk’s® in North Village Market. We believe this location is well suited for us to deliver our distinct fast-casual dining concept to area residents and visitors," stated Cassandra Stokes, who also owns Wingstop’s Nacogdoches location.
"North Village Market – and the families behind it – represent what is best about Nacogdoches and the people here: the love for our community, its people and our rich history, and the sincere desire to see growth and opportunity for all,” said Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce Chair-Elect Angela Wiederhold.
“As I prepared my remarks for today, I reflected on all of the family memories associated with this property – Christmas gatherings and Easter egg hunts,” said Ed Pool. “In January 1999, a devastating fire destroyed the home place, but we look forward to families from the entire Nacogdoches community creating new memories in North Village Market.”
North Village Market will offer something for all members of patron families. The development is designed to attract a diverse mix of stores, including popular children's brands, women's clothing boutiques, jewelers, and stores that offer home furnishings and gifts.
Designed by Nacogdoches-based architect Army Curtis, North Village Market was inspired by the historical architecture in downtown Nacogdoches. Features of the project plan include a tree-lined central boulevard off of North Street leading to a round-about circling a large Texas flag; park-like benches and landscaping designed with the intent to encourage visitors to relax; and walkways lit by period appropriate street lights.
"North Village Market will capture the unique flavor of Nacogdoches and provide a place for visitors to shop, to relax and to enjoy the surroundings," said North Village Market LLC partner Rose Ann (Jones) Pool. “We look forward to North Village Market becoming a source of pride for the community.”
“We are proud of North Village Market and confident in the future of Nacogdoches,” said Ed Pool.
