Today from 5:30-7:30pm, you’ll find us at Lloyd Square! The Community In Our Hands event has booths and services from tons of great local groups, as well as an art auction, bake sale, and raffle for great prizes with all proceeds benefitting our friends at 2C Kitchen Collective. This is a fantastic free event that connects our community. Stop by and hang out with us by making a (free) bookmark with either blackout poetry or found poetry. We’ll see you there!

Our September reading wrap-up is a little smaller than usual. We haven’t had the capacity to read as much lately. We always protect our reading as something we genuinely enjoy and not making it into homework, so it’s natural to have ebbs and flows in your reading volume. Life’s demands were a little higher in September, and they may be in October too. So keep us inspired to make the most of our reading time when it is extra precious: what were your must-reads last month?

Banned Books Week is October 4-10. Join us Sunday, October 4th at 5:30 in Lloyd Square where we bring banned books talk and free bookmark making to the Community In Our Hands mutual aid fair. And join us Friday, October 9th at 7:00pm for a banned books edition of our after hours read-in. Bring a favorite banned book to read, pick up a new one, or grab a FREE audiobook about book banning from our friends at Libro.fm Audiobooks and listen while working on a puzzle with us.

I’ll go first: Reading the last line first.

Purposely cracking a spine on an already floppy book.

Using a greasy fast food napkin for a bookmark.

Diabolical!
