Protecting your gear starts with good technique! Playing on the metal rim instead of the drumhead causes unnecessary wear on your stick shoulders and can dent your hardware over time. Keep your sticks intact, your sound clean, and save your drumheads from extra wear! 🥁

Brass Mouthpiece Tip: Gentle Twist, No Slapping! 🎺✨

That popping sound might be fun, but slamming your hand onto your mouthpiece is a fast track to getting it stuck in the leadpipe!

To properly set your mouthpiece:

Place it gently into the leadpipe.

Give it a small, gentle quarter-twist to secure it.

Keep your horn safe and save yourself a trip to the repair shop!

Orchestra Tip: Don’t Let Your Fine Tuners Lock Up! 🎻✨

Are your fine tuners screwed all the way down? When temperature and humidity shift, you’ll lose the room you need to make quick adjustments—and forced turning can damage your instrument’s top!

Here’s what to do when they run out of room:

Ask your orchestra teacher: They can use the main tuning pegs to reset your pitch so you can back the fine tuners out.

Bring it to our shop: Stop by Ellman’s Music Center and our repair tech team will gladly reset them for you!
