I thought I was a visual learner.

Then I realized…

I’m a SHOW ME, THEN LET ME DO IT learner. 😂

👀 First, I need to SEE how you do it.

🙌 Then, I need to actually DO it myself.

💡 And THAT’S when it clicks.

You can give me written instructions for Adobe Illustrator:

“Select the Rotate Tool, Alt/Option click the rotation point, enter the angle, select Copy, then use Transform Again…”

Me: 😵‍💫

SHOW me where to click.

Me: “Ohhhhhhh! Okay!”

Then let ME do it.

Me: “GOT IT!” 😂

That sent me down a rabbit hole about the VARK learning preferences:

🙌 Kinesthetic — Let me do it.

And apparently, you don’t necessarily have to be just ONE.

I’m definitely Visual + Kinesthetic.

Sooooooo I had a little reminder today that I apparently needed.

A fellow maker reached out because her laser decided to stop working right before a vendor event. She asked if she could use mine and how much I would charge her.

Me being me, I said “did I ask you to pay me anything?” She needed some help, I had the equipment to help her, and that was that.

Nowwww…I will say I underestimated the assignment. She had 8 cutting boards that needed to be engraved and 6 living hinge books that needed to be cut and engraved. On average each item took about 18 minutes EACH not including setup time. So what I thought would be a quick little “I got you” definitely turned into some TIME.

I wasn’t doing it expecting anything in return. I was simply helping another maker who was in a bind.

She came to pick everything up today and asked me if my email was my Zelle. I told her no, my Zelle is my phone number, but WHY? 😒😒😂😂😂

She kept asking me to please send her my number and I sent it.

Then it hit me.

Stephanie, stop blocking that woman’s and your blessings.

I was so busy trying to bless her that I wasn’t allowing her to bless me.

And that made me think about how many times we do that. Somebody tries to do something kind for us and we immediately say, “Oh no, you don’t have to do that.” “Keep your money.” “I’m good.” “Don’t worry about it.”

Sometimes we have to learn how to RECEIVE with the same open heart that we GIVE with.

Because maybe that person is supposed to bless you. Maybe their blessing is tied to their willingness to give just like yours is tied to your willingness to help.

So this is a reminder for me just as much as it is for anybody else:

Stop blocking your blessings.

And while you’re at it, stop blocking somebody else from receiving theirs because you’re too busy refusing to let them bless you.

Sometimes you just need to say, “Thank you. I appreciate you.” ❤️

Finally finished my book-style cutting boards I’ve been working on these past few days to give to my youngest. These definitely tested my woodworking skills and reminded me why you measure twice. 😂

These had me using almost every tool in my arsenal: table saw, miter saw, jointer, planer, router, sander and laser. I engraved the “spines” with my laser and filled the engraving with powder coating powder, then finished everything with oil.

Are they perfect? Nope. There are a couple things I looked at afterward and immediately thought, “Now you KNOW you knew better than that.” 😂 I forgot to change one measurement before engraving, so one of my spine details isn’t centered the way I intended. Then I had a little chip-out during the final routing. I was NOT happy about that one, but I also was NOT starting an entire cutting board over.

But that’s part of making. Sometimes the vision in your head comes out perfect, and sometimes you look at the finished piece and think, “Yep. I know exactly what I’d do differently next time.”

Either way, I made these from raw lumber into something that looked like an idea in my head, and I’m pretty proud of that. 😊 Bonus is that my son loves them too.

This little guy started as an idea I knew would take some work. I wanted to try a more dimensional look, so I shaped the hardwood pieces to give him real depth instead of a flat cut. He’s got layers for the beard, a raised heart on the hat, and that curled tip that makes him feel handmade in the best way.

Still figuring out all the ways I want to use this technique, but I’m already in love with how he came out.

Custom Order Policy — Stephanie's Creations LLC

Deposits and Payment
Deposits are based on order total.

- Orders $25 and under: full payment required upfront
- Orders $26 to $50: $25 deposit required
- Orders $51 to $100: $35 deposit required
- Orders over $100: 50% deposit required

All deposits are non refundable once a design enters production. This covers materials, machine time, and design work already completed. The deposit is applied toward your total order cost, not an additional fee.

Proofs and Approval
You will receive a digital proof before production starts. Once you approve the proof, that approval is your confirmation to move forward. Changes requested after approval may result in additional charges or a delay in your timeline.

Response Time
Once a proof is sent, a response is required within 24 to 48 hours. If I do not hear back in that window, your quote and production slot are no longer guaranteed and may need to be requeued behind other orders.

Order Changes and Cancellations
If you need to cancel or change your order before approving the proof, let me know as soon as possible. Once the proof is approved and production has started, the order cannot be cancelled and the deposit is forfeited.

Rush Orders
Rush production is available for an additional fee depending on the timeline needed. This does not change the proof approval or response time requirements above.
