"An Ideal Society Under the Forest Canopy: Build, Grow, and Thrive in the Treetops!"
Once upon a time, writers, architects, bankers, merchants, botanists, and travelers came together to build the perfect society high in the forest canopy. They worked tirelessly and continue to do so, welcoming newcomers along the way. This is the premise of Tree Society, a new game from Next Move Games.
In Tree Society, players contribute to this treetop community by helping various guilds realize their plans, all while earning money and fame from selling fruits.
On their turn, a player discards one fruit card from their board, gaining coins equal to the total number of that fruit type on all players’ boards (including the discarded card). Players can then spend coins to buy guild cards from the communal market or upgrade those already on their board. Upgraded guild cards activate their effects based on their level, allowing players to trigger combos and earn victory points. Additionally, the player can use the effect of the discarded fruit card.
At the end of each turn, players discard all but two coins; some effects allow extra coins to be stashed in a personal chest for future use. The player then draws a fruit card from the communal supply and refills any empty spaces in the guild market.
Once a player completes all three levels of a guild card, it’s flipped over. The round in which any player completes their sixth guild marks the final round. The player with the most points wins.
To ensure varied gameplay, only four out of six guild groups are used each session.
Tree Society accommodates 2 to 4 players, ages 8 and up, with games lasting 30–45 minutes.
The game box includes: a double-sided market board, 72 guild cards, 75 fruit cards, 12 tree markers, 4 player boards, 4 cardboard chests, 4 score markers, 35 coins, and a rulebook.
