Christman Music of Naples opened for business in January 2015. Previously, Christman Music was a home based repair shop run by me, Craig Christman, and I've been repairing musical instruments professionally for over 20 years. Having outgrown the back of my garage in Fort Myers, and also wanting to open a store to be able to sell accessories and print music, the decision was made to open a store in

Naples as most of my repair customers were coming from Naples and Miami, as well as from other parts of Florida. Today Christman Music of Naples is a fast growing store that does high end, professional quality repairs and has an ever expanding selection of accessories and print music for all wind instruments. We have 3 teaching studios, a full service repair shop, accessories, print music, as well as new and used instruments. We are authorized dealers for Buffet Clarinets, Keilwerth saxes, B&S tubas, Meinl Weston, Besson and Courtois brass; Schrieber bassoons, Fox oboes & bassoons, Gemeinhardt flutes, Drum Workshop, and TAMA Marching percussion. We are authorized dealers for Korg and Roland keyboards and are an authorized service center for both brands as well. Alright, we are DEFINITELY going for it tonight at Riverside Park! Yesterday was strange because it rained all day, right up until the time we were supposed to start and then it cleared up. I still feel canceling was the right decision because we would've been unloading the trailer in heavy rain and setting up on a wet stage. Also I have a feeling a lot of people who might've thought of coming would've seen the rain earlier and decided to make other plans. Anywho, we're forging ahead tonight no matter what so we hope to see you there! The Stardust Memories Big Band, Riverside Park in Bonita, 7 pm. See you there!

I hate to make this announcement but we have decided to cancel tonight's Stardust Memories Big Band concert because of weather. Looks like it's supposed to rain all through the evening unfortunately. Tomorrow is still up in the air because the forecast is for a 30% chance of rain but it seems like that forecast has been improving over the past few days but I will make an announcement tomorrow either way.

We're going for it! After having weeks of bad luck with weather, and the forecast not looking great for Monday and Tuesday this week, we are planning on having our TV/Movie music concerts featuring singer and trumpeter Joe Gransden! Joe is an incredible vocalist and swingin' jazz trumpet player from the Atlanta area and will be singing such classics as Charade, Luck Be a Lady, Hello Young Lovers and an incredible version of How Do you Keep the Music Playing. The band will be doing some really cool instrumental versions of Route 66, Pink Panther (yours truly playing the signature melody on tenor!), Mission Impossible, the theme from Rocky (featuring Ryan Chapman tearing up the Maynard part!) and many others. Please pray for great weather so we can finally have a concert at Cambier Park! We sure hope to see you there and we really hope that our Cambier audience hasn't given up on us! As always, concerts start at 7 pm, Monday at Cambier Park in Naples, Tuesday at Riverside Park in Bonita.

I'm not gonna lie, it's been a rough season for The Stardust Memories Big Band. The weather has been terrible and so far we've only been able to play two concerts this season, both at Riverside Park. I feel bad for our Cambier audience as we haven't been able to do anything there, although we certainly did try back on March 2 for our Miller/Andrews Sisters show but it got rained out while we were setting up! We gave it our best shot last night, but even though we were able to put on the show, the weather was chilly and breezy which kept most of our audience away. In spite of that, the band put on a heck of show for our Stan Kenton concert, and our audience members were real troopers braving the cold wind!
It was a very special show for me as it was the first time my daughter Emily, who has been running sound for us since 2023, also played piano with the band, and ran sound! I've been hoping she'd get a chance to at least play a solo with us for quite a while but to have her cover the piano chair was a real treat!
The opportunity arose as our regular piano player had to take time off for a family emergency. We had asked our usual pianists on our list, but all were booked. So one night, when me and Emily were on our nightly constitutional, she asked if she could look at the charts. I hadn't thought to ask her because I know her real passion is the pipe organ and I know how busy she is with always preparing church music for her job at Saint Hilary's Episcopal Church in Fort Myers. However, I was excited when she expressed interest in playing a concert with us, because not only have I wanted her to play a solo with the band, I was hoping to be able to get her more interested in jazz, big band, and commercial playing before she goes off to school in the Fall. This would be the perfect opportunity! Over the past few weeks, it has been really cool hearing her practice all those Kenton tunes and I'm going to miss coming home to hearing that music wafting through our house. Of course, she did great and I was one proud papa on that stage last night! Below are some clips of her playing a cool cadenza for Intermission Riff and the melody intro to Body and Soul.

It's on! After having to cancel ANOTHER Stardust Memories Big Band concert on Monday due to bad weather, tonight is looking to be a great night for an outdoor concert! Please (PLEASE!) come out to Riverside Park in Bonita to hear us perform the music of Stan Kenton! We'll be doing some of the Kenton orchestra's big hits like Intermission Riff, Dynaflow, Opus in Chartreuse, Malagueña and many others. We will have a special guest performing with us tonight on piano, a young lady who is beginning her journey into the jazz and big band world, and we have expanded the band to create Kenton's famous "Wall of Sound". Concert starts at 7 pm and we hope to see you there!

After 7 missed concerts, including one on Monday, we finally were able to have a park concert on Tuesday night! So far this season, The Stardust Memories Big Band has had to cancel all of our outdoor concerts because of cold weather. Monday night was shaping up to be the first concert of the season but, wouldn't you know it, we were setting up and the heavens let loose and didn't stop until almost 7 pm. Of course, nobody showed up except for about 10 people who were there before we got to the park to set up and their chairs were still there when we left! Anyway, Tuesday night ended up being an amazing night at Riverside Park in Bonita. The park looked packed and the audience was excited as we were to finally be back! That concert was Glenn Miller and the Andrews Sisters and the music was fun and nostalgic, a perfect way to start (albeit pretty late) our season. Our vocalists for this concert were David Pruyn, Michele Pruyn, Michelle Amato and Suzy Park. They TOTALLY captured the Andrews Sisters and Modernairres vibe and it was such a treat to hear those great tunes brought to life with such talented singers!
Tonight the band was honored to play at Lely Country Club in Naples for a private event and it was fun doing some tunes we haven't done for a while like Peter Gunn, Just Friends (Tonight Show Band), Theme from Rocky, etc. Ryan Chapman TORE UP the Maynard part on Rocky and it was fun doing something "Disco-ish", even Don Rhynard was getting into the disco moves during that tune! Danny Sinoff provided the vocals and knocked it out of the park. A special treat was having Dave Pate and Rodney Rojas join the sax section. Many years ago, tonight's sax section played in another NAPLES based JAZZ ORCHESTRA and it was fun playing together again. Here's looking forward to the rest of our season and praying no more rain and cold weather! Well, the weather might cooperate for our concerts this week! No cold but apparently a 30% chance of rain but we are going for it anyway. PLEASE come out to hear The Stardust Memories Big Band as we attempt to perform what should be our 3rd concert of the season but in reality is the 1st one of the season! We will have an incredible line up of singers for our Glenn Miller-Andrews Sisters concert, featuring some of the biggest hits of the classic war era big bands! Our vocalists David Pruyn, Michelle Pruyn, Michelle Amato, and Suzy Park will be singing great songs like Chattanooga Choo Choo, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Bee Mir Bist Du Shoen, Rum and Coca Cola and many others. We will also be doing some of the big instrumental hits by Glenn Miller like In the Mood, American Patrol, Tuxedo Junction, Little Brown Jug, Sunrise Serenade and others. Monday is at Cambier Park in Naples, Tuesday at Riverside Park in Bonita, and concerts start at 7 pm

It looks like it's going to be pretty cold tonight and tomorrow night so it pains me to have to cancel our Stardust Memories Big Band concerts both this week and next week. The long range forecast shows cold temps for the following week too so Lex and I have made the decision to cancel well in advance. We're hoping to reschedule both concert series later in the season. What an awful way to start the season but I don't think people will want to sit outside in 40º weather!

I'm excited to announce the start of our 2026 season of concerts for The Stardust Memories Big Band beginning next Monday night at Cambier Park in Naples! We have a great series of concerts lined up this year, starting with our season opener Big Band Classics. We'll be performing tunes such as One O' Clock Jump, April in Paris, Let's Dance, and a few teasers for our upcoming concerts.
