We recently had to make a tough/risky/bold business decision. It was something that tested our values and integrity. We do not regret our decision and want to share with you what happened.
To start --
Ravenback Supply Co. will always support the LGBTQIA2S+ community. As q***r folk ourselves, it's so important for us to create a safe environment for heathens. This path has a history of hate and bigotry and we do things differently. We value diversity, inclusivity, and respect for all individuals regardless of gender identity or expression. These principles are fundamental to our personal beliefs, frith and professional ethics. We do not align ourselves with homophobic, transphobic, racist, or bigoted people and we will protect our communities from people like this.
Now to clear the air:
A few months ago, we had another business and someone we had at our events twice....ask us to do a repair project. We normally don't do repairs, especially on items that we did not originally create, but we did it out of a kindness.
We held onto the item for a few months to try and color-match the existing part we'd need to repair. We FINALLY found a perfect match, bought the whole hide and went to begin work.
But then....this person posted a hateful and transphobic post on their Business page. Britt and others in the community commented to share how their mindset is harmful. Then the post was deleted without a trace. There was no apology, no accountability taken, nothing.
Again, this business is someone we've had in two of our events where many q***r and trans people came together to celebrate their pagan paths. They were someone we thought were safe but they've revealed themselves to be an unsafe person for q***r heathens and that we cannot stand for. So-- we sent the bag back in the same condition it was given to us and included a letter to let them know how disappointed we were and how they were no longer allowed at our future events. We will no longer be frithful towards them.
After this, we made a $50 donation (the amount of money we would have made from the project) to Inclusion Tennessee -- an organization that aims to promote justice and equity for our trans, q***r, black, brown, and gold communities throughout the South by collaborating with those with a shared bold vision of a future where liberation is championed.
We don't stand for hate -- hate has no home here. We don't want your transphobe money either. Do better, be kind, and love one another. Trans people are valid, beautiful, strong, brave. They're people who deserve our respect and safety always. Everyone deserves to be their most authentic selves without fear and we will do our part to make our spaces safer for all.
