100 year old Lyon & Healy Marquette with a broken heel, multiple body cracks, and hairline cracked bridge. The thing about catalogue guitars is they were built to be affordable and sold for about $7 at the turn of the century.

Repaired heel, neck reset, 4 repaired body cracks, block repair/support, and a hand carved rosewood bridge. Huge shout out to John LeVan for his time, help, and guidance.

Guitar Pots.
What is your favorite?

CTS is the standard, but I prefer Bourns. They have a smoother sweep and wiper. They’re sealed so they have less tendency to oxidize.

I have a set of another US maker in my barncaster currently, and the posts are already loose inside the pot. They are not old and haven’t even seen that much use. I’ll replace them with Bourns pots this week.

This Yamaha needed some TLC and took me several months to bring back to life.

What started as:
Bridge reglue
Neck Reset
Refret

Ended up needing additional top repairs for the bridge and fingerboard support, repairing the worn pin holes in the bridge, a repair to the block, reshaping the tenon, planing multiple warps out of the fingerboard, reglue fingerboard separation, new nut and saddle.

She sounds warm and plays very smooth now.

If you notice your tuning slipping during shows, check your tuners. A couple of the tuners were loose and had worn larger mounting holes. Filled and reinstalled the tuners, tightened them, and also found one tuner was missing the plastic collar. Back in action without having to replace the tuners.
