Storms Forecasted for Later Today. NES has sent a PSA to customers to reassure they are monitoring the forecast closely to be ready in case of an outage.
To help you become prepared, here are some quick tips from NES:
• Create an emergency preparedness plan with family members in case of disastrous conditions. Check out nespower.com for Spring Storm Guidance.
• If there is a power outage, customers should text "OUT" to 637797 (mobile phone must be tied to the account), report it on the NES mobile app, call 615-234-0000, log in to www.NESPower.com , or report it on the NES outage map at www.nespower.com/outages.
• For your safety, if you see a downed power line, stay at least 30 feet away and call 9-1-1 immediately. If you are using a portable generator, keep it outdoors and away from windows.
• Check on and inform your neighbors.
TIPS TO PREPARE FOR A POTENTIAL OUTAGE:
• Charge all mobile and digital devices before weather hits.
• Prepare a home emergency kit that includes non-perishable, pre-packaged food, bottled water, backup batteries for essential equipment, and a flashlight.
• Use alternate plans for refrigerating medicines or power-dependent medical devices.
• Keep your refrigerator and freezer closed to preserve food as long as possible. Check the U.S. FDA for guidance.
• Disconnect appliances and electronics to avoid damage.
• Only use generators outdoors and away from windows.
• Plan an alternate location for heat or cooling, if you or a loved one is vulnerable to temperatures.

FOR CUSTOMERS WHO RELY ON A CONSTANT POWER SOURCE FOR MEDICAL NEEDS:
NES recommends enrollment in its Critical Referral Program. To submit an application, customers are encouraged to visit www.nespower.com and look for Critical Referral Program on the home page for the application (includes letter certification from a medical doctor) and more information. This program allows us to prioritize enrollees during individual outages. Major storms that cause widespread damage can take days to repair. Because of that, a backup plan is strongly encouraged for everyone in the program.
