Who says you can’t have it all?

3rd Power certainly doesn’t think we should limit ourselves with that way of thinking. The makes a bold promise; to give you authentic American and British cleans and edge of breakup side by side with (and modded plexi!) snarl and overdrive. And somehow, against all odds… it delivers on that promise.

Not only do you get all three (actually more than that) distinct flavours at your disposal in this amp, but channel 1 features an innovative sweepable blend control that lets you mix both sides of the Atlantic at will! These two historic sounds have always blended well together in the studio, but now you can blend some chimey breakup into that warm clean, or add some cleaner low end back to that grinding top boost setting you love. The only limit is your imagination! Both circuits’ headroom levels balance each other out perfectly, so combined with two independently selectable master volume settings and the second channel, this amp truly can do it all and then some, both live and in the studio.

Every clip here is from channel 1, every other setting on the amp remains the same throughout, the only differences are the blend k**b and character switches for each side of channel 1. We set the channel volume to a point of breakup and the rectifier to solid state mode so you can really hear the differences in how each option compresses and breaks up with this gorgeous Novo Guitars Miris JHH loaded with Lollar Pickups low wind Imperials, but the master volume (and power attenuator on the back) can be set to find your ideal level of breakup at any volume. You can even switch to a tube rectifier in an instant if that works better for you too!

July was a great month for the amp world… every week we would come in to something brand new, and everything lived up to our expectations and then some! Here are a few of our favourite pairings from the month:

Lion Special & Lil’ Viper:
If anyone is rolling their eyes at the concept of a handwired “practice amp”, we get it, but you owe it to yourself to plug into one and experience it. The touch sensitivity, harmonic complexity, and low end response is shocking in that size and at that volume. It’s a great recording amp.

Dakota & Wonderland Overdrive Skyliner Mod:
Is there a more iconic cork-sniffing pairing than a Korina single cut and a D-style amp? When we paired these two together it became pretty clear that people are onto something here. The vocal, expressive nature of the overdrive felt truly alive under the fingers and it felt as though you added more dimensions to the act of playing guitar when plugging into a rig like this.

XSC-2 & Starlite Reverb 10:
Another new offering from Magnatone, this one is capable of shimmering, glassy cleans all the way up to raw, spitting overdrive as the circuit overloads. This is a testament to why people say that low wattage amps and small speakers are some of the best recording amps in the world. There is plenty of character at low volumes for home use, but this is no one-trick pony.

Lynx HSH @ Mod Shop Hot Cat 50:
We became an official dealer again this month, and everything that’s come in the door from them has floored us. Don’t be fooled by the name! Yes, it does have a lot of gain on tap if needed, but it also offers gorgeous sparkling cleans and pedal-ready edge of breakup tones in spades.

Lynx SSS & Mod Shop Cub 15:
The brand new MS Cub 15 released on the 30th, so we had to sneak it in! This deserves every bit of hype it gets, enough said.

Portlander & Kingston:
Running out of characters - no gold stars for guessing where the name comes from, it’s better though!

A couple of weeks ago Toby Friesen came by the store to demo his brand new signature Silverlake model from Lance S Lerman. In our demo video, not only does he give us a full rundown on the guitar, but he goes over his live rig and how it fits into it, including some specific parts he plays live with Jeremy Camp! This is the live solo he plays at the end of the hit song, .

In case you were wondering, Toby detunes his guitar a 1/2 step to Eb for this song, so the transcription here is written in E, but you’ll need to detune in order to play in key with the chords!

BRAND SPANKING NEW!!

Bad Cat Amps have added to their already stunning series of amps with the all new Mod Shop Cub 15!

As Nashville’s exclusive BadCat dealer, the fine folks from BadCat brought some friends over to check it out, so if you don’t believe our word for it, take it from them! We can’t wait to show it off in store! In order of appearance: Dane Kinser, Jake Fauber, Kent Crawley, and Mike Seal.

Announced today and immediately available here in store, this amp brings with it huge gig, studio, and home versatility for a frankly insane price. Two foot switchable separate master volumes and two different foot switchable gain stages give you complete control over your headroom and volume independently for an all-in-one gig-ready experience. An extra gain stage that still plays nicely with pedals but keeps the overall volume around the same level is a hugely useful feature and we cannot wait to see people react to it in store.

Available in head or combo format. Check out the link in our bio to get you to the right area on our website 😉

Introducing the brand new Point-To-Point Collection Varsity Reverb from Magnatone Amplifiers!

We have come to expect nothing but greatness from the gang at , but not even we were ready for what this thing can do.

An American preamp voicing with a push-pull EL84 power section set this amp up with an incredibly versatile and giggable 15W of harmonically rich and satisfyingly thumpy tone.

All too often we get hung up on describing new amps by likening them to one of a handful of classic designs. This amp defies pigeonholing. You dial it in one way and you think you’ve found its sweet spot, only to shift a k**b or two, swap inputs, or engage the feedback loop defeat/boost and find yourself in a totally different but equally magnificent tonal sweet spot.

Yes, this amp can give you your favourite tweed, blackface, Vox, and early Marshall flavours, but it’s so much more than that. It deserves to be treated as its own entity, because it can strike beautiful balances between all of those sounds as well as chart new territory!

You need to hear this amp, you need to play this amp. We’ll be uploading demos soon but if you find yourself in Nashville, do yourself a favour and swing by to take one of these for a test-ride.

Joey Landreth is one of those guitarists who demonstrates virtuosic playing ability and tasteful restraint in equal measure. Combined with an unrelenting curiosity and an ear for sounds both novel and tested, his playing is sure to inspire anyone who takes the time to listen and sit in the incredible sonic landscapes he can craft.

If you take a look at Joey’s live rigs over the years, you can immediately see a consistent willingness to explore new options whilst remaining true to original, tactile analogue inspiration. As a result, he is an ideal partner for a brand like Revv Amps and his signature D25 is a perfect embodiment of both his and their commitment to marrying practical elements with real amps and real connection to your tone.

A fully analogue valve amp is the heart and soul of this design. Don’t be fooled by the presence of the built-in Two notes Torpedo hardware, it is designed with the authentic experience very much at the forefront. The torpedo software purely means that you never have to worry about whether or not you can use your tube amp (at your preferred settings) live. It sounds magnificent mic’d or direct, and the choice will always be yours.

Silent stage? No problem. Mic not working? No problem. Your pedalboard is built around a certain amount of power amp compression and FoH is telling you to turn down? No problem. All the consistency and reliability of a digital rig without sacrificing the elements that truly inspire you.

But don’t just take our word for it! Come on down and try it out yourself!

It’s officially summer, and as the grapes grow on the vines at vineyards all around the world, the wine barrels lie in wait, ready for the harvest season… but not this one!!

We completely agree with Paoletti Guitars® - Official that this wood is far too beautiful to sit in a wine cellar. That iconic, clear chestnut grain is always mesmerizing on these guitars, but combined with this 1-in-a-million flame it is truly breathtaking. Paired with a dark ebony fretboard and Tuscan olive wood dots, this whole guitar is the epitome of a “playable work of art”.

This isn’t just a looker though, weighing in at just under 7lbs (the perfect weight for an S-style) with a 12” radius and jumbo Dunlop 6110 frets, this guitar is built for speed and control. A perfect medium C neck carve is the cherry on top that makes this as easy in the hand as it is on the eyes.

Check it out in-store or online!

Let’s face it, we’re all massive nerds when it comes to guitar gear… so let’s indulge that nerdy side for a second.

The other day, we plugged this stunning Novo Guitars Serus J 3X into the glorious Magnatone Amplifiers Panoramic Stereo and were transported to another plane of existence.

That sent us down the rabbit hole of trying to understand Magnatone’s pitch-shifting varistor vibrato circuit, and then we decided to challenge ourselves even further by trying to show you what we learned in under a minute. What can we say, we’re gluttons for punishment.

This guitar and amp combo was one of the most inspiring pairings we’ve ever come across, so we advise you to put on headphones to hear what we were hearing.

Every Novo Guitars is special, but the signature series guitars are special even by Novo’s standards. Weighing under 6lbs total, this Swamp Ash-bodied Miris HS practically floats away every time we take our hands off it (that’s our excuse for not being able to stop playing it, at least!)

Loaded with a pair of Lollar Pickups Novel Ts that perfectly complement the unbelievable resonance on this guitar, it is ready to sing at a moment’s notice. When we picked this one up we had to double check that the gig bag did, in fact, have the guitar inside it was all so light! You can tell as soon as you strum that first chord and feel it vibrate against you that you are playing something absolutely one-of-a-kind. This one, like all Signature series Novos, truly earns that Dennis Fano signature on the headstock!

Perfectly balanced, both in terms of weight and tone, this guitar, in its eye-catching Fire Glow finish, truly feels like an extension of your body and soul.
